I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

until she realized that not everyone she knew was a Buffista.

I can't tell you how many times at work I've said "The lurkers support me in e-mail!" as part of a serious conversation, only to be met with blank stares. Then I remember.

"Hookers and blow!" said Juliana, as if it were the most natural thing in the world...until she realized that not everyone she knew was a Buffista.

Hahaha! I was trying to explain to someone the other day, and it just didn't work. Though this sounds like it ought to be part of a story, or a poem-- "'Hookers and blow!' said Juliana, as if it were the most natural thing in the world"

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Perhaps it will replace the traditional Buffista greeting. No more "You changed your hair!" all "Hookers and blow!"

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I know this is a crazy question but do any news channels actually show .. news? Like, if news broke, could I find it on tv?

eta: CNN breaks into Anderson Cooper repeats. And then congratulates itself for showing news.

That was a huge earthquake.

Al Jazeera, which is on the interbunny, but not available on most cable. Only good for national and international, no use for state or local.

8.9 earthquake apparently gets some attention.

eta: I am seeing everything from 8.9 on CNN to 7.1 (and I am not sure that wasn't an earlier quake, or a newer one) on USGS have different numbers depending on their information.

Tsunamis are really terrifying to watch. Awful to watch too.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, no, that is a big earthquake.

It's huge. And the accompanying quakes are really big too.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Gosh, that's scary. Japan is no stranger to earthquakes, but those are really really big.

Our wings are not tired.

It's the tsunamis that are terrifying me. And they're just beginning.
