Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

There are such material legal benefits to be realised in this society, that if you have the luxury, why not sign all those papers at once.

My previous experience with not marriage but close enough, getting my legals/financials tied up with a guy, resulted in me being destitute, bankrupt, owing the IRS $10K, and losing my house, my car, and my job. (I got fired because he kept coming 'round work acting crazy.) It took me fifteen years to dig myself out of that hole and get back to where I was, never mind where I had planned to be in my mid-40s. I am very wary of ever doing that again. Marriage to me (personally, not how I feel about other peoples' marriages) is less a celebration of love than a potential bear trap. Also, as my sister discovered, divorce laws in Virginia don't exactly favor women, so I can't say, well, there's always divorce.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

You worship at the feet of a torture victim, and then some guy tells you to eat his flesh and drink his blood.

One of the few times my UU congregation had something resembling Communion, they served raisin bread and apple juice. The latter made me think, "This is my plasma, donated for you . . . "

It involves pretty boys in eyeliner, loud guitars, chocolate, and an endless supply of Fluevogs.

I'd be up for everything but the loud guitars. What's your position on heresy?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I don't even live in Wisconsin, but I'm mad enough to spit.

Always Anti-fascist!

That's bullshit. They're supposed to act like legislators, not kids saying "Psych!" Not that ours are any better. Sigh.

How can they even do that? Isn't that why the Dems left the state, because they couldn't do anything without them?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

they couldn't take a budget vote without the dems, so they stripped all the budget elements out of the legislation and just sent through the stuff about collective bargaining. asshats

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm hoping the outrage over this will result in the pendulum swinging back from all this anti-union, anti-teacher crap. Or maybe this is just one more step in the fuckupification of the US for everyone but the super rich.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

In re squirrels - the DC ones are fat and spoiled - the tourists feed them 'cause they're CUTE. There's a group of albino squirrels in Franklin Square that are beyond spoiled - I once had one come up to me, practically sit on my foot, and give me the "hand over the goodies" look. A threatening stomp of my foot didn't even budge him.

And, in related animal news, for Trudy (welcome back!)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

They're supposed to act like legislators, not kids saying "Psych!"

That ship sailed some time ago.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

They're supposed to act like legislators, not kids saying "Psych!"
