I was talking with someone in the office about something stupid Christine O'Donnell said and she was offended and read me an e-mail she'd gotten. In it, the sender had compared the U.S.'s treatment of illegal aliens (saying that they come here, get welfare, free healthcare, free education, etc.) with that of other countries, pointing out that in these other countries - among them Iran, North Korea, Cuba - anyone entering the country illegally is jailed at best.
So I've been wondering - why is it that some people think we should emulate these countries?

yum! I'd eat it! (but then, I like mushrooms - except, oddly, portobellows - and melting cheese over just about anything makes it edible if not delicious)
