Yeah, portion size is so weird. I'm thinking about buying some vintage plates so they're a more reasonable size. Then the right amount of food will look ok, instead of this dollop in the middle of a huge plate.

I haven't used my dinner plates since the surgery, just the salad plates.

All my dinner ware is uber-thick C&B cafe stock. The dinner plate is so huge, I've taken to using them only as platters. The salad plate (9in) is now the dinner plate. I've also acquired much smaller bowls. It seems funny now, how different they seem.

My cat's snoring on top of her condo, and it's quite loud. Very funny!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I haven't used my dinner plates since the surgery, just the salad plates.

I really only use my salad plates. My dinner plates are put away in a bottom cupboard. I use them for dinner party stuff when I am putting several things on a plate and totally garnishing it. But just me or just friends over? Salad plate. It's still not a small plate.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

The dishes we have, have stripes on the outer edge or in the case of coffee cups and bowls, near the top. The bottom edge of the lowest stripe on the cups is where I fill for ice cream (I don't pack it down, if I did, it would be more than half a cup). The top of the bottom stripe on the bowls is the right water level for packets of instant oatmeal (I like it more creamy than viscous).

My typical lunch involves an entire 16oz package of frozen veggies plus 4-6oz of protein, so I dump it all in a glass pie plate and shove it in the microwave. When I go for a salad, I will use the pie plate as well, and heap it up with lettuce plus other veggies and a bit of meat. Of course, veggies aren't like ice cream - there is no virtue in restraining oneself to one serving a day, and many benefits to having 8ish.

Too bad they didn't pronounce it correctly.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

The dish set we have came with "dessert" bowls in addition to "salad" bowls. We tend to use the dessert bowl more than the salad bowls. I also prefer using the salad plates to the dinner plates. I do need to start measuring my portions because I'm sure my estimating is off.
