P.S. Your tag makes me smile.
Thanks. It's outdated but I shall endevour to make it appropriate again!

Waiting for the tow. I procrastinated dealing with it. Oh well. Might be walking back.
But I got my swim done!
For me portion size has been a revelation. H is constantly amazed when I serve my own portions. He's still having a lot of trouble adjusting his diet after the diabetes diagnosis. Though he's eaten far fewer fats and sweets since his diagnosis in his 20s of "your blood pressure is hovering around 'massive blowout' right now. Continue this way and I'll give you a year--18 months at most". He did a huge overhaul of the foods he eats and how they're cooked. His problem is quantity, so portion size is a big learning process for him. When he serves my portions, he knows I won't be able to finish, so he gets to clean my plate--"No point saving this little bit, right? And it's too good to throw out!" And since it comes off my plate, not his, it doesn't count on his intake. Riiiiiight.
ETA: Trudy, I hear you on eating after surgery. It's really hard to find an appetite, or the energy to chew and swallow.
H fed me by hand for days after my surgery, and if he hadn't, I just wouldn't have bothered to eat.
....still waiting. Guess I got really lucky with the 5 minute wait yesterday.
sarameg, I hope the tow truck comes soon.

After all these years of working in group homes, actually measuring portions with measuring cups, or spoons, or specially designed serving utensils, I have become adept at not only measuring, but also accurately estimating. I'm also sometimes surprised at how satisfying a proper portion of something can be. I have found that I am actually quite happy with 1/2 cup of ice cream and rarely want more.
Speaking of... there's Rocky Road in the freezer.... I'll be in the kitchen
I love the having calories in restaurants! I mean, it may or may not change what I was going to eat, but I like knowing. Though it does irk me that there's nothing at Starbucks under 300 calories (food-wise, for breakfast, the drinks can be).
I saw some early forsythia today! And blossoming snowdrops! And walked around without a jacket on!
Also had a really good one-on-one with my TA for the programming course that shed light on the stuff that needed illumination, so that made the walk even more worth it.
Dear sweet odd neighbor starting a new nonprofit project, even though you asked my husband very kindly, I'm still not going to build a website for you. Best of luck. Please stop asking people to ask me but not mentioning it to me directly. Sincerely, me.
You're in Cali? Does pot help at all with migraines? I know some people who have received relief from migraine pain and sensitivity from it.
My migraine specialist is adamantly against it. It's not as effective as the prescription stuff I currently take, but being second on the list is...well, it's a really short list of stuff that works.
Thanks, guys. They took a bit of time coming back with the dilaudid. Why would a doctor say to me "Let's see if this works this way?" if I'm in here every week having it done a different way for a reason? She just looked exasperated when I explained to her that my specialist specifically wanted me to be given the meds together. But she agreed.
Then, when I next paged a nurse, the nurse showed up with a second dose. Now, I was going to ask for a second dose...but seriously--I can't keep track of what's okay and what's not okay. I could have been going to ask for water or a blanket, and she shows up with dilaudid. That I had to plead for three hours earlier.
Calories information in restaurants is fascinating. I love hunting through the lists to find out what's the most caloriffic. Some of that shit is awe-inspiring. CPK blew my mind last time I was there.

oh dear--I suspect I don't want to know!!

Eh, if it works it works! And if not, no need to keep it up. I'd totally do it if I thought it would help (though probably not smoking it--I hate the smell). I'm frustrated because the past week or so I've had a headache in the morning something like 4 or 5 out of 7 days. They weren't all awful (Monday's and yesterday's were, but drugs helped) but still! WTF, body?
