It's probably not a good sign that, when I brought my car in for service this morning, they started adding up the cost of repairs and then asked me if I'd considered buying a new car, right?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, and since billytea's antennae shot up when I mentioned Naked Mole Rats, I should note that today is Platypus Day on the Disney Channel.

Happy Platypus Day, billytea!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Steel cut oats simmering on the stove. I went the overinvolved CI way, including toasting the grains beforehand. I love oats in all its forms, but I really really like steel cut. I wish it weren't so time-consuming to make. But I'm making plenty of it, so I will be able to reheat a few servings.

Watching Ong Bak 2. I'm not entirely clear on whether or not there is a plot, but I'm not overly bothered.

What's the Polish half going to post about?

The other half is American.

I'm right there with you, and I haven't even taken it in yet! Well, tuneup, clutch, probably need new tires, possibly time to replace the brake pads...

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

ita, my DH loves the Ong Bak movies like whoa.

Huh. I think I will buy the regular oats, then. I like the bigger cut.

I put dried cran, walnuts, a fuckton of cinnamon and some vanilla in with mine, with some brown sugar and I use milk.

I also like raisins and almonds. I use whatever I have. You could add dried fruit or nuts of any type, I think: cherries, blueberries, apples, sunflower seeds, pecans. Some people add a little flaxseed, but I am not that ambitious.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Mom puts some peanut butter in her oatmeal, mostly for the protein but it also tastes good.

It's funny, I buy lots of oats to make muesli, but I never really think to make oatmeal unless I have steel cut.

Good thing you live in a city where you don't need a car, eh?
