Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Cool prosthetic.

A Montreal friend is coming into town in a couple weeks, but he hasn't told me, just Colin. I am poutface. Last time he was here, him and I hung out together, and Colin was out of town. I'm tempted to invite myself along, but that's highly rude. I am that sort of obnoxious, though.

Back from 3 hours at urgent care. I'm intrigued by urgent care because no one who works there seems to sense the urgency.

My foot that is in debilitating pain? Ice it and no ibuprofen. The doc did mention that while I'm not obese I do need to exercise more.

Hey asshat. You haven't bothered to do a history to figure out how much I DO exercise.

I wish I had an xray machine at home and a degree in radiology so when I have weird things like extreme foot pain that is limiting my ability to walk that sprang up after a car accident, I can look for a stress fracture on my own.

GROWL.

Oh! And he was worried about my genuinely high blood pressure. Hmmm.. perhaps it could be attributable to stress: I have twin four year olds, one of whom is chronically sick and has been sicker than usual in the past two weeks and who has surgery in two more weeks. I was in a car accident yesterday, where my car will most likely be totalled by the adjuster because it's made by a company that went under two years ago. I also have a tenuous job where I teach 48, 51, and 33 seniors in 3 respective classes and I'm told my class numbers will go up next year if I still have a job and my school isn't taken over by the state. Also I just spent 3 HOURS in a waiting room reading about cadavers. I'm not feeling particularly zen. Especially since you aren't going to do shit for the pain in my foot.

Stressed? Me?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Ouch, Kat. I hope you get some relief soon.

Me too! Except my (most recent) fracture in a foot was from my sandal catching on my long skirt and falling last summer. Every so often (okay, a lot) I think it healed wrong.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, Kat, that's just awful, all of it. Of course your blood pressure is high!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Gentle hugs, Kat. Why no ibuprofen?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, Kat. I wish things were better for you!

Sort of relatedly, my grandmother fell last week. Apparently she didn't break anything, but is in a shitload of pain. The doctor said not to take "too much" Tylenol. So she's taking one (one!) a few times a day. And is still in a lot of pain! What is "too much" Tylenol? We have no idea.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Anything over the dosage on the bottle is potentially dangerous. It's not one ot mess around with.

Is there any reason she can't take ibuprofen or aspirin?
