My friend's boyfriend (who is also my friend) was profiled for being a very big Texas Ranger's fan. [link]

did you see the lawyer who asked for a continuance so that he could go to the game? And then there's the guy who quit his job so that he could move back to Texas follow the series.

eta: edited to add linkage.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I saw the lawyer but not the other one. I count sticking with teams in the lean years more than doing something crazy when they go to the big championship games.

Like, I was part of the Who Dat nation when they were the Ain'ts. That's some love right there.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Pistons in the mid-90s.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Packers pre-Brett.

Texas Ranger's fan.

Apropos of only this: I don't hold any grudges against Rangers fans (and in fact welcome their money with open arms), but I damn near kicked a group of them out of my bar last night for being such rude douchebags that they stood out like a glaring neon sign against the high-level douchery of The Marina. It is just a baseball game, in the larger world picture.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Why do you hate America, Juliana?

ah Texans. There is a reason my brother and I would say we were from NM or CO when we went skiing. I will say that I have never had an issue with Ranger's fans at the Ballpark, unlike, say, Yankee fans at the Stadium.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Timelies!

There was recently an NPR interview with an author who was a prison librarian....

And I'm a prisoner to my late-waking habits still. I have GOT to go to sleep early one of these nights so I can get up at 6am on a regular basis.

Last night I found out my dad would have liked to go to the Rally to Restore Sanity but he didn't want to have to argue with my mom about it so he didn't try. My dad and I have locked horns on a lot of political stuff and still disagree about loads of stuff but I'm really happy that he digs The Daily Show and The Colbert Report and that he'd love to give the finger (metaphorically) to Glenn Beck.

OTOH there was this [link] the article more than the headline.
