Hey, I've been in a firefight before! Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired from a fry-cook opportunity. I can handle myself.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I think I broke the CV axle in my van. I just had it towed to the shop. I don't even want to think about how much this will cost.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Heh - the day I decide to finally abandon LJ for good (I've posted maybe three comments in the past year, and haven't updated my own journal in...forever?), I get two emails notifying me that I am now the owner of two communities that haven't been active in...also forever. I guess I'm not the only one trying to streamline social networks today.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, what was that about? There wasn't anything in the email about needing to do anything.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, Cash! That sucks bigtime.

An interesting profile on Grant Achatz, chef at Alinea, considered the best restaurant in the US.

Thomas Keller wants to have a word with him. In the alley. With fish knives.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

erika, I'm not sure how many are in my union, the WSEU, but we are all administrative personnel working for the university. The university system across the state employees something like 25,000 classified workers and most of us are union employees. So, think folks a lot like your mother.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Thomas Keller wants to have a word with him. In the alley. With fish knives.

Keller is quoted extensively in that article, since he was Achatz's mentor (he was sous chef at the French Laundry when he was 25). Achatz even named one of his sons Keller.
