Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

We've only got two in town and I'm very surprised that it's the one on the west side closing. The west side is the ritzy side of town and the store is very close to campus. I'm glad for my dad, though, because he goes to the east side Borders every day at 3pm for coffee. It's his daily ritual and I think he'd be very upset if he had to change it. He's 87 and it's all about him.

and now I'm amused: you can follow the front moving east by watching Buffista postings. Next up is -t!

For the record, still sunny and blue skies. If there is hail on the horizon, it is hidden by the trees.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

The Borders near me is closing, too. Also, that WSJ spreadsheet isn't actually set up for zipcodes, so the leading zeros aren't there. Classic.

You can sort it by state, however.

Luckily the Downtown Crossing and Cambridgeside ones aren't on the list.

Wacky - the Borders in my hometown in Maine isn't on the list (actually, none of the Maine ones are on the list).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Sorting by zip still works, because 2115 is less than 11106 or whatever, but still.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

More to the point - wtf kind of a default is sorting by store number?!!?!

Seriously, it came out of nowhere.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

The Borders near me is closing. The last time I went there I almost didn't go in, because their signage made it look like they wouldn't be open for another two hours. (I think it was a Sunday around noon, and the "1" had been removed from the "12:00" opening time. Something like that.) The lights were fairly dark and there wasn't much activity. If I hadn't seen someone walk in I would have just gone on to the Barnes & Noble up the road. I pointed out the sign problem to one of the employees and got a shrug. OK, sign painting's not the check-out staff's responsibility, but if you want to improve sales figures it really helps to make sure people know whether your store is open.

Looks like the Borders closest to me are all staying open, though I had to go to the website to find out what cities they are in as they are too far away for me to go to often enough to just know where they are.
