Woe to the fucking wicked.

Given the whole court challenge(s) to the individual mandate, I'm half-hoping it gets overturned and someone says, "Fuck it, then; single-payer it is."

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

it needs to happen. my problem with the health care bill is the continued reliance on insurance companies. they are the problem, not the doctors or hospitals. Insurance companies that exist not to help patients but to make a profit for themselves. Those are jobs i would love to see dissapear (or get absorbed into a single not for profit government-overseen system to pay for *everyone* to get the care they need. any time. all the time.)

Like I want to shop around procedures, but that is crazy, right?

I don't know how practical that would really be. I'd think you'd have to have a consultation before putting down a price on a procedure (save for really simple ones) and consultations aren't exactly cheap.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Suzi, I'm sending get-home-NOW vibes to CJ!

Insurance companies that exist not to help patients but to make a profit for themselves.

There's some sort of insurance company on my floor at work (or a company that works *with* insurance companies, something like that). I was in a bathroom stall one day when 2 women from that company came in, talking about someone they apparently work with who is at *another* insurance company. (Did you follow that? Women from Insurance Company A talking about Dude from Insurance Company B.)

So one of the women said that Dude told her something about going through every claim by hand (I don't totally remember, to be honest).

And the other woman said, "Oh my god, they don't just reject them automatically? How do they even make a profit?"

I really wanted to commit physical violence at that point.
