Shit's all sorts of different now.

So it turns out that pertussis has been going around the school and has been breaking out in our county in "epidemic" levels. Fan-fucking-tastic. Doctor's office opens in 20 minutes.

Grace tested positive for MRSA when they swabbed her at her last admission. She has been in a hospital since....maybe 18 months prior to discharge from TK. So I don't know. She has no symptoms.

Last surgery they wanted her to share a room and I was like, "Nope. Can't do. She's contact isolation for MRSA" so it was a sort of blessing.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Darwinian Valentines.

My DH has left for China and the nanny just called to say my daughter has 102 degree fever.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Blargh, sickies! I appear to have joined your ranks, thanks to the band leader, who I was lecturing because he was singing while sick. And this is why, people!

I'm not that bad, but his was miserable, and sounds like K's because he's had it for weeks. I am feeling mostly ok, but notably sick, but I am staying home preemptively today.

Yikes. Sparky, I hope she feels better soon (and I remember last year; I hope there is no snowpocalypse this time either).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes! I'm not going to lie, the thought of both pertussis and MRSA freaks me out.

Because books.

Eek. Not good, Sparky. And sickies, get well! Aims, the doctor is definitely in order, poor thing.

It's my parents 45th (I think?) wedding anniversary. Aw.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Please people, if you haven't done it already, GET YOUR PERTUSSIS BOOSTER! The vaccine you got as a baby has almost certainly worn off by now, and due to a number of different factors* it is making a comeback all over the country. The mother of a friend of mine had it when I was a kid and she BROKE A RIB COUGHING. It is no joke.

*Antivax nutjobs + adults who were never told by their doctors that they needed a booster shot every 10 years = no more herd immunity. Stupid herd!

not your mom's socks.

Oh no Sparky! Hugs to K and I hope she feels better soon. I hate toddler fevers - they are way over the top.
