And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Please people, if you haven't done it already, GET YOUR PERTUSSIS BOOSTER! The vaccine you got as a baby has almost certainly worn off by now, and due to a number of different factors* it is making a comeback all over the country. The mother of a friend of mine had it when I was a kid and she BROKE A RIB COUGHING. It is no joke.

*Antivax nutjobs + adults who were never told by their doctors that they needed a booster shot every 10 years = no more herd immunity. Stupid herd!

not your mom's socks.

Oh no Sparky! Hugs to K and I hope she feels better soon. I hate toddler fevers - they are way over the top.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I kept praying not to get sick during my temporary job, because there was no sick time. I missed one day because of a bad headache (and weather), so I did pretty good compared to most.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Happy Valentines Day, for them that celebrate.

Also, Happy Quirkyalone Day!

Wiki defines “Quirkyalone” as “a neologism referring to someone who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than dating for the sake of being in a couple.”

The term was coined by girlzine badass-turned-magazine maven Sasha Cagen while she was standing with several other single, unsmooched friends on a Brooklyn subway platform on New Year’s Eve back in 1999. “She expanded the concept into an essay in the first issue of her magazine To-Do List. When the article was republished in the Utne Reader in 2000, Cagen was surprised by the fervor of responses from readers who felt their lives had been validated by her work. As a result of these responses, Cagen opted to expand her essay into a 2004 book, titled Quirkyalone: A Manifesto for Uncompromising Romantics.”

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Jess - I will for sure be asking about the pertussis booster today. I should have gotten a flu shot being that I'm around darn near 40 1st graders every day. I am now paying for it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I had what I'm pretty sure was pertussis a few years ago. I caught it from some kids at a summer program where I was teaching. I was coughing so hard I couldn't breathe.

I'm bored.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Oh, I have the day off, I can go get a pertussis booster. ... but wait, I cannot, because I am unemployed and have no health insurance!

t kicks employer

Week two of unemployment is not off to a fantastic start, although with luck this will be the end of it.

I have things to do today: go to Good Will, clean out the garage, make bread. I would weed the yard, but it's raining.

Bah.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No COBRA, Consuela?

I hope this is very brief for you.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

No coverage through the end of the month? I thought that was standard?
