I don't remember candy from my Great Aunt, but she made the best fresh limeade. And my first car ('71 Nova) had been her car.

Yeah, my mom kept the "Christmas candy" in the glass dish with the lid. For *years*. In her 90s I caught her chipping it apart with an icepick the day before Halloween. Yup, you guessed it. And no, I didn't let her. i also hid the icepick.
I love those La Vie La Vosgienne pastilles! I guess I could qualify as a great-aunt on that count because I've kept them in my desk drawer--those and the various mint and citrus Altoids. The empty tins do come in handy. And unlike most things of that ilk, they don't seem to multiply like rabbits.
Not so sure about Altoids not multiplying like rabbits. After my mom died, we found over 10 Altoid tins, from unopened, to partially used, to empty. I honestly don't remember her as being an Altoid person. Will have to ask the kids...maybe she stocked the mints for them.
I think my one grandmother had ribbon candy out, but I can't remember if it was just at holidays or not. It's been years and years, though.

I am.
My taxes, they are done. And now my head hurts.
I was watching as I did dishes and made soup. So kind of.
Before that I watched Misfits. Swoon.
Those soft mints with green centers.
When I worked at Michael's, I stocked up on cross-stitch kits and also learned how to make bows--very handy!
I've got my grandma's candy bowl, which is a pottery piece that she apparently painted in a craft class back in the 1950s. She always had wrapped caramels and hard candy in it. I just keep it empty in my tv stand.
Oh, and I've got most of my weekend Onerous Task done! At least, I've cleaned all the clothes out of the drawers and closet, but I do still have to take care of the shelf in the closet and all the paperwork in the other drawers. I ended up with three bags of donations and six bags of garbage, and got my three very full drawers of old sweats and t-shirts down to one. My closet is reduced in half, and I even went through everything I had on the floor (except for the shoes), and finally found my blanket that had been hidden in the corner of the closet.
