What's everybody doing for their Onerous Task today?
The un-fun businessy parts of freelancing. Proposals and contracts and whatnots.
(Note to current client: if you just would answer my outstanding questions and send me stuff, I would VERY HAPPILY work on your project and have way more fun and, you know, get paid.)
I was reading that story about Anon this morning; it's fascinating... Although parts bother me: I haven't read the entire IRC chat log yet, but the parts I have gotten through seem a lot less dramatic than the summary in the piece.
On the other hand, I will never get tired of hearing about the Low Orbit Ion Canon.
OTOH, Barr was a total dickwad.
A dickwad with poor grammar.
A dickwad with poor grammar.
My favorite part, actually, were his chats with his coder.
The programmer keeps saying, in essence, "I know you think you've got the tiger by the tail, but you don't understand the very important, very basic concept of small sample size as it applies to statistical analysis. You are completely full of bullshit
and
there's no way I'm going to put that shit on my computer because those guys will take me out."
I did my onerous task for the day: calling a meeting space to get availability and price quote. I hate phone work, so getting that done has left me feeling all virtuous. Now, it's time to go to my Access class, which is my reward. Yay!
My onerous task today is laundry, but I haven't done it yet. OTOH, I did make a tuna casserole for dinner, so maybe I'll just count that...
(No seriously, I *have* to do laundry. My clothes can be picked out of the laundry basket and worn again dirty. Aeryn's diapers, nsm.)
The Vice President, Omar Suleiman, might be an even worse dictator that Mubarak.
Friends of friends in Egypt are hearing he will cede to the military not to the VP. Seems all very confusing at the moment.
Onerous task: deposited $531 in the bank, much in small bills and change (hello, Girl Scout cookies.)
The VP is head of the inteligence servcies (can't remember what they're called), so yeah, kind of scary. Very strong US ties. But the position itself was just created in the last weeks and my understanding is that there is nothing that says he sucedes the president should he step down.
Frankly, ceding to the military would scare me less. So far anyway.
My favorite part, actually, were his chats with his coder.
Oh yes! And the whole exchange where he can't back up his gut feelings with any stats.
