Car people: Most of the way to work this morning my car seemed fine, but when I got on the off ramp, which ends at a stop sign so it's about a quarter mile of stop and go, it started feeling like the engine was stuttering a little, and then the Check engine soon light came on. I'd made plans to go to the repair shop at lunch, but when I got in the car to go, it seemed to be driving mostly okay, and the light was off.
Any ideas what was wrong? I made an appointment for Friday in case it happens again, but maybe I should go anyway.
Bad gas? But I'm the one driving a '97 with 100+K and ignored the day it took several tries and a lot of blue smoke to start. And I'm pretty sure I need new tires. So I am suspect for advice.
The Ateneo Grand Splendid Bookstore
It's in this beautiful old theater.
That hurts my soul a little.

Happy birthday, Suzi!
Perkins, is your gas cap seated properly? The check engine light will come on if it isn't (and it could've let some moisture in the tank).
sarameg, I *love* your earring rack! How long is it? Did you buy it as an earring rack? Or was it amended from something else?
Oh, those earrings are fabulous--all three pairs. I love the blue sea glass ones, and the yellow round ones. But the sparkly starry ones are my favorites.
Happy birthday, Suzi!
I bought the perfect Katie Valentine's gift -- a baseball wallet from j. petermen.
I had a shitty terrible mom moment. We went to Ikea and promised to check with Noah to see if he were tall enough for the ball pit, which he has been yearning for. We measured him before we went up for dinner. And he was barely tall enough, but he did make it. Then when he had his shoes off, he was too short. But he was all ready to go.
Oh he was heartbroken, but he didn't have a fit, which was impressive. I made it up to him by buying a DK Star Wars/Lego book.
Aww Noah. But yes, not having the meltdown is impressive.
I'll take a picture of the whole thing. My mom got it at a fair up in Santa Fe or Ruidoso. It's awesome. I'm going to need another soon.
Mom knows my love of seaglass (collected a lot at Port Bou in Spain, years ago.)
Give me a minute to upload.

Awesome, Little Man! That's hard to recover from. Those books rock, though. We have several. Probably five or six.
Ah, Noah.
Bev: [link] please everyone ignore the card floating on the posts and the pencil marks on the wall. I keep meaning to erase that and then forget.
sara, you have an amazing collection of earrings.
