Pix, I need to retract my rec on the Ethiopian coffee. I just started a new bag of it and it has bitter bite.

Happy Birthday, Suzi!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy birthday, Suzi!

Sarameg, I have a fairly simple return (no real estate or investment income), and my CPA charges me about $100.00. She always finds at least $100.00 worth of refund (or, one worrisome year, reduced payout) than I would, so that, plus the lack of hassle, makes going to a pro totally worth it for me. She also handled my Dad's estate return, which would have had me tearing my hair out. It ran to more like $150.00, but again, totally worth it.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

This is the first year that my taxes will be straightforward and easy. But, I am a slacker (as in, it took me a week to get the stuff mailed to my accountant), so it's easier for me to pay.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did I mention I got my tax refund about two weeks ago?

I am math phobic so it's way easier for me to pay! Thanks for reminding me to call my guy. We need to figure out if we are filing jointly or separately this year except we don't need to figure it out because my guy will run all the numbers and figure out what's best for us!

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Ugh, taxes are gonna suck this year. I had the student aide job from January to June last year, for which I was paid directly by the student's parents with no withholding. So I'm gonna owe a ton for that.

We have two properties and some rental income from one and a home office and not standard deductions is muy complicado (to me anyway).

brillig

Hubby's SS income and Medicare make it just weird enough for me that I like help. For instance, I didn't know that the deductions for Medicare count as a medical expense that can be used as a deduction.
