I make mine with filtered (Brita) tap water and the only hint of anything I taste is the bit I can taste in the unfizzed water. But I am totally a water snob, I know.

This is totally me, except that I have a counter-top Honeywell filter. I've taste something subtle in the unfizzed water, but the fresh stuff doesn't taste like anything but yum.

And we totally should. When's the next episode? I'll tivo it and we can watch it with bourbon and ginger soda.

Only instead of making the show itself a drinking game we can play ourselves. Every time you say, "Oh, that's totally bullshit," we'll drink. Every time I say, "Seriously? Public health in resource limited countries doesn't work like that," we'll drink. Every time one of us goes into completely inarticulate "arrrrrgh" territory, chug!

I have more kvetching, but sighing is all I can do. My day has been shit and vomit from beginning to end. That includes the hundreds of papers I graded in the middle.

That was tl;dr, but the gist is that I am glad there are different kinds of stores so people can shop in places that work for them. Kinda like I like how some car companies are finally designing some interesting cars. I may personally hate them but I prefer having variety to choose from than just cookie cutter same.

Cass, this reminds me of something I thought about when I was in Miami. I LOVED hearing all of the Spanish being spoken around me, and I loved the signs in Spanish and just the general vibe of Miami. And it occured to me that I want America to be full of geographical texture. I don't want it to be all the same!

Whew, my parents have gas (and thus heat) again. They figure it was out for several hours and the house dropped to 50, but nothing seems to have frozen. My mom was more worried about the 3 outside ferals they feed. They set up catbeds and a heat lamp for 'em. 2 were in the screened porch when I talked to her, but the skittery one hasn't been seen since last night. But she tends to go to ground.

Schools and institutions are closed again tomorrow, strictly for utility reasons. State is under emergency declaration.

I opened my garage door enough for any stray cats to get in and put some blankets in a box as well as a litter box out there. I also put food on the porch.

The neighborhood cat we had picked up thinking it was a stray the week of Christmas? Well, it was out in this frigid cold and still has no collar on. I hate its owners. She came in the garage for a bit, but wasn't there when I last checked.
