A friend of mine in the western burbs has 4 ft snow drifts up against her doors. The only door she could open to let her dog out this morning was the one in her garage. And she said she'd been trying to shovel up 'til about midnight last night.
I can hear a neighbor trying to get his car out - struggling car. Not too many cars on the road today.
I went into Owen's classroom like I do every week to volunteer. There was a substitute teacher. I sat down quietly with the kids while she was reading a book to them. She stopped when I came in and looked at me. Then she said, "You must be..." Owen finished by saying, "She's my mom." But then she said, "Supporting a team?" I realized she was referring to my hair. "Nope. My hair's always purple." She just sort of nodded and finished reading the story.
HAHAHAHAH! Cash, that's hysterical!
The classroom aid got a kick out of when I told her later.
Dear god, ita, that sounds awful. The WW thing, I mean.
Consuela - I hope the Big Boss has some extra special way to get this cleared up NOW. Or at least make the time off worth your while.
While I got my new card today, I have to wait until tomorrow to activate it. Which means I can't update my auto-pays until sometime tomorrow. I just want to get this stuff DONE.
Speaking of digging cars out, the snowplows had already come by and dug the general paths in the parking lot out, and then the shovelers came out and dug out a path along the sidewalks so we could get out of our buildings. However, I knew I was going to have to dig my car out of the really deep snow drift it was buried in. I figured I'd head out there around 3:00 before the sun went down and it got damn cold. Well, around that time, I was looking out the window and noticed that the two guys I had seen digging a few cars out earlier in the day were still out there with their shovels, and then I noticed them point out the man parked next to me who was out sweeping off his car and getting ready to dig his out. They headed over to him and after talking for a few seconds, started to dig him out. I thought they had negotiated a price and thought, "Brilliant! I'll do the same!" threw my shoes and coat on, cleaned out my wallet of all of its bills ($6), grabbed my keys and headed downstairs. I headed to my car and asked the guys if they would dig mine out, since I had some cash on me. They said they wouldn't take any money, but I could donate it to charity if I wanted.
Wow.
Not only did they dig my car out, they swept all the snow off of it and pointed out an already-dug-out spot that I could move it to so that the snowplow guys could get to my old spot and clear it out. I gushed over them effusively, and then after moving my car, asked if I could give them hugs which they took with a big grin.
Such a great day today!!!
TJ's chicken pot pie is DISGUSTING. Why didn't you warn me? What a waste of four servings.
I went out. Turns out that I really did not need to go out and I'm pissed I did, but the details are unimportant. While out though I decided to 1) get gas and 2) go to the grocery store. We now have milk and fresh veggies and fruit. I really needed cat food, but completely forgot. Schools have already starting calling in their closings for tomorrow, but not mac's school yet. I really hope they are open, if for no other reason than all this tv and video game time is not good for him.
