A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

That is crazy-big. Damn.

Ugh. I can't sleep. 3:30 am. YAY.

I rearranged some stuff in the dining room, deconstructed a withering bouquet into three little bouquets, and am having a wee glass of sherry.

I feel very genteel in my insomnia.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

What. The. FUCK. ::boggles::

Yeah. This includes the weather pattern disruptions as well as the cyclone itself, but -- this is a big one.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I found this posted elsewhere. I don't know the source, sorry.

Typhoon off Australia.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I've seen some maps superimposing the storm on the US and other places. It's boggling [link]

Perkins, you should be asleep! I had a lot of emails with OMartin yesterday about his old job (still not applying) - did he email you? He tried to tell me his daughter graduated from college two years ago, so I called him a liar.

Temps here are above freezing, so I don't have to skate into work. That's good. I do however, have to go, and Pfft! is a good summary of how I feel about that.

You are not wrong. I was, too, but I seem to not be anymore.

I'm not sure what happened to the no insomnia thing I had going, but whatever it is can bite me.

He did email me! I need to answer him still though. At least she's not getting married yet.

At least she's not getting married yet.

Right. Because she's 12. 13 at most. Possibly 16.

My DH is going to Beijing on Valentine's Day. Minus a thousand million husband points! Last year, this was the meeting he went to in Vienna, while I was snowed in with baby and dog, so I am a little twitchy at the prospect. Then he's home for a few days, and then gone again for a week to NYC. Twitch, twitch.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Snow day! Looking outside, I'm not 100% sure why, but I can never really tell what's going on from my little street.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

The map visualizations of Yasi are jaw dropping. But I agree with Sparky, Perkins, you should be asleep!

I had a crap night in a recliner for a bit then in Grace's bed with her for a bit. Now I am up, though I hope Grace remains asleep. I believe she isn't, but if I don't acknowledge her or turn on lights maybe she will STAY asleep.

Everyone here is unfailingly solicitous. More so than our last stay. Grace is still suspicious, though I appreciate that they offered me juice and coffee and finally brought me a gallon of drinking water.

I'm still not sure how life on pediatrics work (do any of the parents with kids who have been hospitalized know?) I do all of the heavy lifting of diaper changing, grooming, feeding and they just deal with the IV, her vitals and breathing treatments. Next time I'm tempted to bring all of her treatments and just administer them myself. Ditto for the singulair which we have missed both visits.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Bah. I probably could make it to work today, as the bus I usually take is running. But the police are telling people not to travel. Maybe I'll email my boss about what the police said and not mention the bus, because I really don't feel like going out in this weather.
