See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Maybe you're living in crazy melty land....

Our cafeteria has shrimp ceviche today, so we can rule out the World Without Shrimp.

TB, it's just... weird, with the "Please" and the "Thank you" and the "Good job" and stuff. What's their angle here?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

One of my students came in to my office today to take a makeup quiz, and she didn't have anywhere for her daughter to go during that time, so she brought her daughter with her. I ended up playing with the daughter (age 2 or so) while her mother was taking the quiz, which was fun (we played with the Sesame Street website), but I was somewhat puzzled that the mother would bring her toddler somewhere where she'd have to sit down and entertain herself for a while, and didn't bring so much as a coloring book and crayons.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, JZ! I can't believe you lived without that for so long! That's the worst. You deserve so much better.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Depends on the kid. I was pretty good at entertaining myself.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am also pleased to report that I will be attending both the women's and men's singles finals at the Australian Open this weekend. Wish me Rafa!

Okay, now I'm no longer on your side. Also, rooting for Murray.

JZ, I'm going to set a weekly timer.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I am so happy for you JZ! A good work environment makes all the difference.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

makeup quiz

OK, my head just went to a weird place, and I was wondering why Hil would be giving someone a test on how to apply makeup!!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I can't believe you lived without that for so long! That's the worst. You deserve so much better.

The thing about a place like my ex-job is, though, after a while, when it's your only job and it consumes most of your waking life, you start to think, "Well, if I deserved any better, things would be better already. If it's been this shitty for this long and none of my other applications are getting even a nibble from anyone else, there must be something wrong with me. If there wasn't, I wouldn't be here." It's a really, really horrible death spiral.

It was actually stumbling on this incredible LJ post that crystallized just how fucking nuts the last place was and how badly I needed to be somewhere else.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee. Amused at the fact that I am more corruptible than JZ. I already knew what DP was. I'm pretty sure it's all y'alls fault somehow.

In other corruption news and speaking of princesses, I'm getting ready to place a Zoya order since they have that holiday mini color lock system still. And one of the weaknesses in my collection is pink, because I don't think I like pink. But the truth is, I like pink fine, I just can't get past my pink bias. And what I need is a nice clean, nearly neutral, more opaque than transparent, light pink. Does Zoya have one of those you'd recommend?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Okay, now I'm no longer on your side. Also, rooting for Murray.

I would not be displeased with a Murray-festooned final. Don't think it's going to happen, but would not complain. (It's the other half of the draw about which I hold Opinions, namely that Federer's the only one I'm particularly keen on. So Nadal-Federer or Federer-Murray, either one works for me.)
