Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Baking soda doesn't go bad, does it?

I think it eventually loses potency. But I don't bake a ton, so I'll have the same can for years.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Baking soda doesn't go bad, does it? Because that's possibly part of the leavening issue.

It can lose effectiveness but it takes a long time, iirc. There's a simple test to see if it's still good, if I can remember it or find it again...

Subbed 1/4c cocoa powder for flour (ran out) when making my scotch(or bourbon or whatever) choc chip cookies and I think I've made chocolate cake donut flavored cookies. They are amazingly delicate in flavor.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Add some to some vinegar?

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

baking soda loses potency with age (insert joke here). Easy enough to check: just mix a teeny bit with a little vinegar. if it does a volcano impression, there's nothing wrong with the baking soda.

Yeah, that's it. Too simple for me to remember.

That sounds delicious, sarameg. I've had a mild craving for cake donuts for a couple of days now and I don't know where to find any to buy or how to make them. Alas.

Wasn't what I was expecting, but it works. Can't really taste the scotch unless you know it is in there because the cocoa is so strong, you wouldn't realize the slight smokiness is from the scotch.

Loki's decided something fascinating lives in one of the speakers. He really wants to take the fabric off the front. He's so noodgey tonight and it is too damned cold to take him for a walk (he wouldn't go, anyway. He lasted on the deck for about 10 seconds before wanting in.)

I had a craving for Milano cookies. So I actually left the house and went to Target. On a Sunday. I think I grossly overestimated both my energy and my health.

Now I'm back in indoor pants and a sweater. I hate being sick during gorgeous weather.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's nice out? Ah, well.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather (NPI), Kat.

Fuck. The only cough suppressant I have is nighttime formula, and I was going to say up for Downton Abbey, but now I'm thinking I'll just take it now and go to bed. But I don't feel that sick! I wish I had gone to the drug store today.
