Oh, I do like Art Nouveau, although when we went to the post-Impressionists at the deYoung last weekend my niece asked what Art Nouveau was and I wasn't able to describe it.
So, blow my mind! (Um, in a SFW way.)

You should've seen the huge Art Deco exhibit they had in SF a few years back. It included, among other things, the entire entrance way and perfume counter from a Parisian department store done in the Deco style from the late 20s.
Anyway, back to Art Nouveau.
One of my favorite blogs is by the British designer and illustrator, John Coulthart. He has a wide range of interests including Art Nouveau and the history of illustration.
He recently posted about the German magazine Deutsche Kunst & Dekoration which chronicled the best in German design at the turn of the century.
Germans, being the meticulous little scholars that they are, have scanned the entire run of the magazine and posted it online, free. 7500 pages of Art Nouveau right here.
But there's more!
Coulthart had previously written about the German humor magazine Jugend which was also contemporaneous with the Art Nouveau era and reveled in its style.
Guess what? It's also available entirely free from the University of Heidelberg.
So if you've been sitting around thinking, "You know, it'd be cool if I could have the entire print run of two turn-of-the-century German magazines that specialized in Art Nouveau. For free. Without getting up from my chair." Well, now you do.
