Most people I know who have heard from the FBI have friends undergoing background checks for federal employment, but they usually call, rather than go door to door.
I've lost count of the number of background checks I've been contacted for. The last one was while I was super, super sick in September. The agent was a nice enough guy and all, but he insisted on coming here to meet with me. When he arrived, he asked me one question (usually, it would be 3 questions) an then left. He wasn't even here for 5 minutes and could easily have asked me that one dumb question over the phone.
It's not like cleaning myself up was BAD for me on that day, but it did seem to be a wasted effort.

msbelle, in my experience things get harder the longer you put them off.
Sharktopus came up at my department lunch today, too! Weird.
It's still after the holidays. You're good.
Well, yeah. And who knows which holidays they meant! It's not even Evacuation Day yet! (Which day -- 3/17 -- I do have to work, but at least we get Patriots Day off....)
...to give me a print-out of his nephew's new contract with the Oakland A's!
Cool beans! Was he drafted this year?
amyth, I am so sorry. And numb is probably the best thing for you right now.

It's Brad Ziegler, remember? They avoided arbitration and get got a nice raise from league minimum to something over a million.
It's Brad Ziegler, remember?
Right! I had forgotten. That's great for Brad. He used to post at AN, and he's a very interesting guy. Nice to know he's a millionaire now. Though the A's bullpen has definitely gotten a bit crowded in the last week.
A friend's blog Baby toes!
I have a somewhat ridiculous question. Do any of you have a pair of black leather Mary Janes (that look similar to this or this) that you don't want, that I could give a good home to? I need to find a pair to decorate with spikes so I can take pictures for a tutorial on GCS.
