Because books.

I always thought alma mater meant the school you graduated from.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I do remember all of my college one, but Calli and smonster have posted most of it here, so I won't fill in the blanks.

I also remember my high school one, which is mostly in English, but has a Latin title: "Ad Jesum Per Mariam," which prompted a memorable lj post between smonster and me back in our Supernatural days entitled, Ad Gaudiam Per PADDYWHACK.

Only thing I ever knew was my hs fight song. Which might not have been official, but it began "Roll on Trojans..." so....yeah.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Punishingly Intricate

I have no idea of my college had an alma mater. But my high school one? I know and can still sing toay:

This is me. In fact, my best friend from hs, my mom, and all my aunts and I (and my grandmother when she was alive) will, when together, break into it spontaneously and sing it all the way through. It was written by Sister Aloysius Peach!

Ursuline to you are turning
loyal hearts with love alight
while beside the lamp of learning
shines our colors--red and white

It goes on for a while after that and into ranges that, really, only dogs can hear.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I always thought alma mater meant the school you graduated from.

It means that, too.

Because books.

Oh, I love that song, Frank.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It means that, too.

That makes no sense. I vote against that.
