I'm being very nasty in a review of a report. Well, they deserve it. But seriously, what would you say if someone sent you an environmental report that included the following:
The USC contains a consolidation and codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States. It sets out the current status of the laws, as amended, without repeating all the language of the amendatory acts except where necessary. The USC is declared to be prima facie evidence of those laws. Its purpose is to present the laws in a concise and usable form without requiring recourse to the many volumes of the Statutes at Large containing the individual amendments.
My comment was: "Do not ever include this sort of thing in a report you are submitting to a client. It makes you look ridiculous."
too harsh? I feel bad, since I'm not even the client here, but seriously. I see entry-level staff at work, with no QA review before it went out the door.
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into the shrink wrap some more.
You can also buy just the insulating part and keep your same decor.
Well, I really hate the curtains that are there now. My landlords put up window treatments in all the rooms, and some of them are OK, but these are just a horrible green and gold paisley.
Okay, now there are moruning doves pecking disconsolately at the froaen birdbath. Guess I`d better stoke the fire and heat the kettle after all. And I suppose I should eat dinner then. Hey, maybe Ilve hit on the source of the low energy problem!

Did they just say the same thing four times?
The insulating curtains do work. Even plain heavy drapes help.
The shrinkwrap stuff works well too, and as people have said, it sticks pretty well.
They just said NOTHING, is the problem. They were supposed to say "Boating and safety are regulated under X statute by X agency. This would require X in order to perform the project consistent with these laws and regulations."
Instead they handed that bit off to a junior staffer who had no idea what he (or she) was supposed to do, gave them no example documents, and then failed to review it before sending it out the door.
I have sympathy for assigning junior staff to a project--that's how you learn, after all. But I spent eight years as a project manager in private consulting, and I have no sympathy at all for letting something like that get out the door. That's what QA is for.
Kat, thanks for the rec; Cashmere, I'd love to borrow them if my library doesn't have them. Lemme check.
Liese, I hear you.
amyth, glad you could reschedule. Good luck getting everything done tonight!
Huh. I've checked three different brands at Home Depot and Lowe's online, and all of them have several reviews saying that the product used to be great, but that the ones sold this year don't stick -- the tape doesn't even stick to the film. I can't find a single positive review for any of them written this winter. Interesting.
Usually the adhesive is just narrow double stick tape. You could just buy some better tape.
OK, I'll give the plastic a try. Much cheaper than the curtains. I'll venture to Home Depot tomorrow. (I hate Home Depot. The people who work there always treat me like I'm stupid.)
