I'm not a pet person, so that might be why I completely don't get how you can value a pet but not want to take simple (and I'm not talking chipping, just wearing ID) step to protect an animal that's apparently at risk of wandering.

Wow, megan! That'll be nice - hope you can hang in there through March.
I think chipping the critters is probably a good idea, but I haven't done it. The cats do wander, and Walter will take off and roam the neighborhood if given the opportunity (I put a lot of effort into not giving him the opportunity, but...border collie brains) Maybe once Wednesday's new kitten vet stuff is done, which will actually be soon.
beagle/Cav cross pup - evilly cute.
Love her fierce expression.
My cat was chipped as a kitten by the ASPCA, I guess, but I also guess that means it's useless now? Because I don't think the chip knows who I am, and it definitely doesn't know where I live.
That's awesome, megan. You can totally hang in there until March.
We put a collar on Switch and he's never even acted like he notices it. We put one on Cortez, the stray who adopted us, and it lasted maybe a month before he worked it off. He's completely mellow about everything, apparently, but wearing something.

I know I can, I just wouldn't put it past them to get me out beforehand because they know I want to leave anyway.
Jesse, I think you can get in touch with the maker of the chip and have your details updated. If you don't know who made the chip - get in touch with the ASPCA. They should have the information. Or just ask you vet to scan your cat the next time you go in - that should get you the information you need too,

Oh! Well, none of that, megan's work!

Yeah, I'll see if I ever remember to do that! The odds of my cat getting out now are extremely low, given I'm on the 4th floor and there is no fire escape or anything....
Unofficial onerosity underway! Onerous task number one? Getting out of bed after an insomniac night. Onerous task number two, take trash out, achieved. Feet are cold because I lack slip on snow boots and am too lazy to put on real boots but still. And 2b. included taking out the ashes. Onerous task three, outside pants. Even though I`m not going outside because onerous task three is actually laundry. Engage. Right after my coffee, because I hear my kettle boiling.
Yay for unofficial tasking! You can blame sj for your productivity. Yesterday (in bitches, I think) she mentioned she had some stuff to do and so did I! Yeah, shower is on my list too. I haven`t done task three yet, but I did feed and water the birds which I wasn`t going to do because it`s cold and snowy. But I went out to take out the actual trash instead of the recycling I accidentally put in the trash and I saw that their food really was low and I remembered that I feed them because it`s cold and snowy. So pleasant task achieved because now I am eating breakfast and there are a multitude of birds to watch.
Yay, Liese, and thanks for posting this because I was putting off onerous task number one, and seeing your post made me want to get it done. I just need to cancel an appointment, but the first number I tried said the wait was too long, and the second number has had me on hold forever. This onerous task is proving to be extra onerous.
