Rick, I read that post and had no idea it was you! How would *you* summarise your study?

It's mostly pretty technical and boring, using a mathematical model to decompose the part of social memory that is influenced by variation what is to be remembered (women in this case) and the part that is influenced by the characteristics of the person doing the remembering (men, in this case). There is some Jezebel-worthy stuff in the study. For instance, one hypothesis would be that if a woman is very attractive or is dressed in a sexually provocative way, men will be distracted by that and will be less likely to encode (and therefore remember) her emotional response. The alternative hypothesis is that if a woman is very attractive or dressed in a sexually provocative way men will pay more attention to everything about her, including her emotions, so they will be more likely to encode (and therefore remember) her emotional response. Based on our previous research, we expected the former, but we got the latter. But no one at Jezebel actually read the paper, so their description makes it seem like it was about accuracy of perception.

Because books.

The Brooklyn library has Flirter avec l'amour : roman / Amy _______ ; traduit de l'américain par Agathe Nabet.

Aw! I love my foreign editions. Not that I can read them.

This weekend I'm taking Sara and my mom to the local ballet company's production of Dracula, which should be awesome. And we're going to the orchard on Sunday for apple picking and a hay ride.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Going shopping after work today for clothes to wear on business trip in a couple of weeks. Saturday, Pilates, yardwork then to dinner and a movie for a friend's birthday ("Hereafter"--Matt Damon is her movie boyfriend, so it's her choice). Sunday, more organization.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My weekend plans include regular errandy homey stuff, plus maybe checking out the Head of the Charles, and also a date tomorrow.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, I think it's over between me and sleep doc. Her solution was to increase the meds and to add fifteen minutes of dancing in the morning. She had a way of making it sound like I was the problem, whereas, really, I'm the patient. With a problem. Which is a whole different vibe. It's not that I complained. It's that I was experiencing adverse effects.

And then we got disconnected (hmmph) after she finished her message, but while I still had things to say. Her response after I said I didn't want to continue the trazadone was to try melatonin and tryptophan and valerian. All of which? I've already tried.

So, you know, whatever. I'll check out the book she wanted me to read, but she's not getting any more of my time or money. I still have an ambien script, and those adverse effects were less bad than these.

Based on our previous research, we expected the former, but we got the latter.

So does that mean if I dress like a stone hottie at work my message will get across better?

information libertarian

I am taking Casper to the UGA Equestrian Team meet (with Special Girl Scout Event). And our yard is in dire need of yard work.

Oh, I'm doing nothing but switching sleep meds and drawing. Those are my plans.
