A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

OK, I read that article, and as far as comparing men v. women maintenence time, she is basically right. But her tone is "WAH WAH WAH keeping up with cute 25 year olds and I don't get ahead as much as when I was a cute 25 yo and did all this stuff too, and if you don't do at least 30 minutes of this (and I suck at it, wah) you are an Ugly Lying Bitch," rather than "Gender Equity Rarw."

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I really hate it when women apply makeup on the subway during rush hour. There's just no easy way to put on eyeshadow without elbowing the person next to you.

Also? Some things just shouldn't be done in public, especially on the subway. Putting on makeup is one of them.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Alarm goes off at 7:30. Tom gets up, hits snooze and shuts the cats out of the bedroom. 7:38, snooze alarm goes off, I shut it off. 7:46, snooze alarm goes off, Tom shuts it off and goes downstairs to feed the cats and take a shower. I snooze for a couple minutes and stumble to the shower. While shower heats up, I brush my teeth. Shower, then face toner/moisturizer comb hair, put stuff in it. A couple times a week I inspect my brows for plucking needs and work with that accordingly.

Deodorant, take my pills, put on my wedding rings and watch, get dressed. I decided what I want to wear while in the shower.

I am currently experimenting with washing my hair every other day, and keeping it dry in the shower when I don't wash it. It looks so nice brushed out dry! This cuts my shower time down from 15 minutes to like 5. This means I can sleep that entire last snooze! Oh, living the dream.

Oh, then we putter around for a while till it's time to leave at 8:40am. It takes us 10 minutes to get to Tom's office, and then 10 minutes to my office.

Having had to get up at 6am to brave an hour+ commute in whatever New England weather is happening to get into work by 8:30, this is soooooooo awesome and much more civilized.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've discovered I can walk to or from work in less than an hour, but afterwards my feet hurt. That makes me sad, as I used to love long walks.

When I lived in Madison, I used to walk around lake Monona all the time - that was a nice three-hour walk.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I would rather sleep in longer than catch up the internet. I know, it's crazy.

I am totally with you. I have to leave home at 6:30. I'm gonna sleep as much as I can.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

hivemind - anyone know anything about Working America - the non-union part of the AFL/CIO? - if I am reading things right, it is free to be a member and they offer a health savings program (not insurance, but might help).

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

This is why I am not sure that catching a ride with TeaParty!cow-orker is better or worse.

With TeaParty!Cow-orker, I leave my house at 7:08, and am at work by 7:40 (with walkig from parking lot), but at 7:08 I not only have to be ready, but ready to chit chat.

If I take the bus, I have to be on the bus at 6:40 to be there at 8:00, but I can totally catch up with the internet/drink coffee for 1 hour while on the bus.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There are guys who choose to spend a long time grooming, and women who choose not to, and yet are magically unshunned. The standards are different, but if Jilli can accomplish what she does in what time it takes her, I have no sympathy for the blogger. She's chosen extreme measures, and she sucks at them. Two strikes, you're out.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Sleeping in is one of the reasons why I no longer have Big Deathrock Hair. Backcombing and application of AquaNet takes longer than you might think.
