I was wearing pants. I went to the store and back. I have frosted the cake and it is now in the refrigerator. It will have time to get to room temp before dinner.
Tomorrow, all I have to do is roll out the crusts, cut and spice the apples and bake the pie.
Aside from gravy and sweet potatoes, I am the expeditor tomorrow. Sister is bringing bloody marys.
I didn't exactly make the most of my skanky years, but I did realize in my early 20s that my body, as much as I was dissatisfied with it, was probably as good as it was ever going to be and, to paraphrase a bumper sticker, it was time to streak while gravity was on my side.
ita rocks. ita also occasionally moon but that is a different conversation.
Is Monday too soon to check in, and any thoughts on whether I should call or just send another email? Keeping in mind that the job starts the first week of January.
Tuesday or Wed.
I will just say that even in the best of families, family communication is a BITCH. I adore the family I have here and herding these goddamn cats for the first time today had me flipping out like a mammalian Pete V. It wasn't pretty. Thankfully, I dig these people and we're on a better communication track now. But ugh, the stress family communications bring at the best of times...
Loved ita's beer run story.
Wishing your sister all the best, Laura. There's never a good time to have depression, but the holidays are one of the hardest times for it. You're a sweetie for finding her chill-out spaces. Very important.
Daniel has been quoting Marvin the Paranoid Android's lines in a Jackie Mason voice.
Ooh. Nearly as bad as when I was moaning about my life last week and The Girl went "Brain the size of a planet..." at me. (But she had been listening to my whining for three weeks straight, admittedly.)
Interview for associate lecturer job today. I've read so much feminist theory in prepration over the last few days that I fear I might spontaneously run in to the campus shop and graffiti over the men's magazines with the girls in no clothes on them, or something.
Good luck, Seska!
I have now made two pies, and peeled and cut up potatoes. Tomorrow, the real cooking.
Mmm. Pies.
Happy turturkeykey day to all USians!
Have made pumpkin pie and cranberry relish.
I made a cranberry cherry pear chutney/relish thing. (Have no clue what to call it-- I was winging it.)
Bird is brining- tomorrow is pie, first thing, then shove the bird in the oven.
Also very happy to not be herding cats. meara, I held off responding about T-giving because everyone's been taking turns not feeling well and I don't think sharing germs is in quite the spirit of the holiday. And of course, now it's Lewis who's turned up feeling crappy.
But there will be pie.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We'll be doing ours on Saturday, so when you're all calming down from the holiday panic, you can watch me slowly disintegrate in the kitchen.
