From what I understand we'll have kids at the door from around 5 until around 8 tonight, so you could come a bit later if you'd like.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Yay! I'll try for around 5:30.
Oh, I am so sorry Scrappy. That's just such an awful place to be, I know.
That's so sad, Scrappy.
people can just stop calling the police here asking questions about trick or treating. we have no laws pertaining to trick or treating, or even legal guidelines as to time frames or dates. Seriously, not even the supervisors here know how to answer these questions aside from "whenever the parents feel safe letting the kids trick or treat." Argh. Clogging up the phone lines and driving me crazy. (might also have something to do with being exhausted and hungry.) Makes me wonder if there are places with those kinds of laws, or if the jerky local news are advising folks to call police on entirely non-police related matters again.
grrr roommate wants me to stay here and help entertain her dad who's coming over later. Her mom just moved out of their house today.
I'm not giving otu candy tonight. Part of my street is blocked off for car safety so that deters trick or treaters. Last year I went around and handed out candy.
This year I decided to save the money. Also kids were out trick or treating around 4:30. Which I think is really early but it is a school night.
Last night I was chatting with a friend in Oklahoma and her town was doing trick or treating last night instead of on Sunday. She's in the heart of the Bible belt.
I have trick or treaters for the first time ever!!! Yay.
I really ought to clean the kitchen. I'll see what time it is when I get done with that.
I actually think it would be very helpful for everyone involved if a town strongly suggested a time frame for trick or treating. While I generally like giving out candy to little kids in costumes, I don't like to be continually "on-call" for 4 or 5 hours with smatterings of kids. I'd love for it to be all within an hour or two and ONLY kids under 13 and ONLY costumed kids. That would be ideal. My neighborhood gets about 200 kids+ brought in from all over San Leandro and Oakland. 90% of the kids do come costumed, and most of them come right after dark. But there were still stragglers as late as 10:30 last year, and more than a few teenagers who didn't bother to dress. I still gave them candy because it wasn't worth it to suffer the consequences of a pissed off teenager. But it was not enjoyable to me in the slightest.

(and tonight I am especially annoyed that it's happening during a World Series game. But I'm pissed off with MLB for that timing, not the hapless kiddos)
