Dammit. It's times like this I'm reminded of how much I took for granted where I used to live. I want to buy my dad some calimyrna/ismir style dried figs that don't cost a fortune. (I just realized it's less than 2 weeks 'til his bday. He's hard to buy for.) There is no place nearby that sells them except sometimes Trader Joe's. No Middle Eastern stores nearby that I know of.
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Aims your teacher is an asshat. Here's something to look forward to- that package in the mail is on its way to you.
Happ anniversary, Reasons! And happy (belated) birthday to Daniel.
I'm sorry, Aims. I'm in the same position now, with work, study and a tiny person to dote upon; and it is hard. But how you manage your time is your own decision.
wail! it's Halloween and I can't find my horns! I do have a very spooky manicure thanks to Gothic Charm School.
edit: I found them! And it turned out to be a happy Halloween after all.
Came home from vacation to really good news: my youngest niece Sarah got the job she wanted! She's gonna be a PARK RANGER in the VIRGIN ISLANDS. It's a six-month internship, which will hopefully lead to more jobs within the Park system. She'll be helping restore and maintain an old fort there, which is exactly the sort of work she wants to do. She gets a house, a car, and a $170/week stipend. (!) She'll be living on St. Croix and working on St. John, which will mean a daily commute by boat. I Google-Earth'ed it and it looks amazing. She starts in January, so around Christmas we'll be moving her out of the apartment she just moved into last spring and storing her stuff in her mom's house and mine, for six months until the next adventure. This is SO GREAT, you guys; she's been job hunting for two years trying to get out of the dead-end very difficult job situation she's been in since even before she graduated college, and she'd gotten NO job offers and was totally depressed, and now she's gotten exactly what she wanted and it's awesome! I am so happy for her!
And, argh, I can't talk about it on Twitter or LJ because her sister follows me and she's not supposed to know anything about it until Sarah gives notice at work. They work at the same place and Sarah's troubled relationship with her sister is one of the main reasons this job has become unpleasant for her. Also another reason I'm so so glad Sarah's getting out of there.
That's great news, Zenkitty! I knew someone who lived in St. Croix and he loved it. Plus the job sounds really interesting.
HOO-rah for your niece, Zen. Sometimes things do work out well!
Aims, I have malevolent thoughts beaming at your prof. Infected hangnails, itchy non-specific rashes that defy diagnosis, mild but persistent indigestion, that sort of pesky thing.
Happy Anniversary, Jilli and Peeve!
Wow, that is great news, Zen! What a cool job.
I don't know how one of my old profs got to you, Aims. Happy anniversary Reasons...happy birthday, Daniel! I don't know what I'm going to do with my life once I can't nag people about voting anymore.
That sounds amazing, Zen! I think I want that job, shoot!
