Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Okay, Tim said she basically slid down, front legs (and head) first. He didn't see how she managed to do it, but the door to the basement is just open, and right off the kitchen, where dogs love to be. He said she might have even been listing to one side as she went down.
Anyway, she's walking around and doesn't seem to have sustained more damage than a tiny scrape under her chin. But I'm guessing she'll be really sore tomorrow, like after a car accident -- you can walk away fine, and then the next day everything hurts.
Fortunately (I think) since we've been giving her an antiinflammatory and Tramadol 2 times a day for her joint pain, those drugs might have some preventive effect from her being in too much pain tomorrow.
Also, we can give her 2 Tramadol at a time if need be (we've only been giving her 1, twice a day), so we gave her an extra Tramadol in peanut butter and hopefully she'll pass out and not go flinging herself down the stairs any more.
I didn't even mention that I came home from work to find she had pooped in the kitchen. We can't yell at her for it; she's old and really can't help herself. Argh. I don't think she's got a whole lot of time left. I mean, we've known that, but we keep helping her along and things seem okay for a while -- increasing the antiinflammatory dose, adding the Tramadol, etc. Poor pooch.
I will say this: I said this morning that I just wanted to make it through today without anyone dying. And so far, we're managing to avoid that. SO FAR. Eeeeesh.
That's a trifecta of suck, Tep.
Hope the puppy's okay, and you get some pain ease.
It has been a veritable carnival of suckitude for the past 10 weeks, and I would like it to stop, god damn it.
I mean, okay. I am truly thankful that I have dental insurance. I'm thankful I have the means to pay my various moving violation tickets (and soon-to-come increase in my insurance premium, DAMN those actions having consequences!). I'm thankful that the dog seems unscathed. I'm thankful I have The Boy through all this. I'm thankful I have alla y'all though all this (through all of everything, actually, good and bad and in between). I'm thankful that at least today, I still have a job with benefits. I'm thankful that no one else has died. I'm thankful for percocet.
But DAMN.
Teppy, is the use of doggy diapers a possibility? Would Chloe wear them?
Tim mentioned doggie diapers, but I'm wondering -- if she pooped and then sat in them all day, wouldn't the poop get all mashed in her fur? That would be a nightmare to clean, because she REALLY -- I cannot be emphatic enough -- doesn't want anyone fussing with/touching her unless it's to pet her head and back. The worst is her feet -- trying to clean them when she's walked through poop is a fucking nightmare. But she has a poorly docked tail, and we don't know the story behind it -- if it was an accident or cruelty or just a bad job -- but she will not, in any way, abide her hindquarters being touched.
So if she wore a diaper and pooped and then sat in it all day, cleaning her up would be awful. For right now, the tradeoff isn't worth it.
Poor Kato keeps pacing back and forth like he's patrolling. He didn't follow Chloe down the steps, but he almost did (not falling, but to see what happened).
Um. Hypothetically speaking.
That was *exactly* how it went for me, honestly.
And still how things like laundry or filing paperwork piles up in my life.
Still, I want the Nephlet to snap the fuck out of it and do his homework. I swear there is stuff we worked on together showing up as not turned in. Gotta love getting daily emails about his school work...
I don't think she's got a whole lot of time left.
It's a difficult place with an aging pet, Steph. I know it all too well.
Oh, I'm glad Chloe seems ok. Please stop scaring your people. and your friend Kato.
As for the rest, I just wish easier than expected.
I am Cass and Jilli.
I'm glad Chloe has y'all, Teppy. And given amyth's experiences with her poodle, I think you're right that diapering wouldn't be good. I know she's had to clean her up.
As a not always turn in homework , but done kid. One , I was bored. Two, I didn't want to here the same thing over again - Beth should be neater, Beth should be less careless. Three,I did it - so I got what I needed out of it. and of course, once you haven't turned in some, why would turn stuff in later.
I only know one thing that helped someone. He needed to make up an English class in High School. So his mom had him take a college course at the local CC. He Aced it. and his mom was abe to say I know you're ready for college , but the state of CA says you have two more years. If you don't get out of high school , you won't go to college
Ugh, Steph, I want your 10 week string to be over too. That's a messload of suck to deal with, and it just eats away at you.
Poor doggy. I'm glad she's ok.
