Hello. I have just skipped over 400 posts and have zero idea what's going on with you. Hope all are well.
So here I am, sharing these next moments from today with you:
1. On which one of us confused, and I have no idea who:
Email from a friend: Pictures of Shir Giving a Lecture! [link] [link] [link]
Me: That's great, dear, but since I'm not on FB I cannot see them. Any chance you'll send them as files?
Friend: Nope. But I can send more links! [link]
Me: That's really nice, hon, but as I said, I have no use in these link, since they don't lead to anything in my end.
And then I thought I'll copy them here so at least FBBitches would approve. Let me know if you can see the socks in the pictures (it was freezing cold in the lecture room, and very hot outside of them. Every time I entered a lecture room I put the long sleeves shirt and socks on).
2. When you watch 5 minutes of Gilmore Girls and your brain start analyze Protestant and/or patriarchal discourse without a "shut up!" button anywhere in sight, it's more amusing than anything.
3. God knows why, but I volunteered to be a part of the finance staff for the next sci-fi convention. Why yes, my rehab from staff roles was very successful, but at least coins won't argue with me about where should I put them in the program. I hope.
4. I sent resumes today to a bunch of jobs, some of them I'd really, really like to have. If I can ask for your powerful~ma, I'd appreciate it very much.
5. I came back from the convention with Too Much Reading Material. When I still have papers to write, of course.
Now, few more emails to send, hoping to achieve some things. Missed 'ya.
Much job~ma to you, Shir!
Job~ma. Photos show fine for me.
There were a pair of nesting bald eagles a few miles from my house this summer. It was very cool. [link]
Oh goodness. You take one day off from work, and there are 3 "health advisory" e-mails. Whooping cough, flu, and I forget the other one. This petri dish of diseases was NOT in the brochure!
IOworkN- seems the School of Arts is organizing a Flash Mob event. Mmmoookay. Cool, I suppose. A dance thing to Thriller. Really? c'mon. It's been done. Do a different song! And where will this be? Here, on campus, in the arts plaza, where only the arts folk typically go. Not really a public space. And trees, fountain, chairs, etc that will make it hard to mass inhabit the area. I think they had a cool idea, and messed it up. To me, the cool thing about a flash mob event is in the middle of nowhere, a public space, a huge group of people do an organized thing, then dissapate. :: sigh :: Welcome to academia, right?
Shir, very nice pics. Yes, you can see the socks. Tons of Job~ma to you.
No word yet from FLA about my BiL job interview.
OK, back to work. I'm not here. Really, I swear.
Well, this week was no fun.
I had the not-cancer lumps out on Monday, which was nice because the anesthesia got rid of my migraine. Recuperating the rest of the week, including dealing with the H.R. Giger-esque drain they put in me.
During this time my 6-year-old computer gave up the ghost, so I was mostly offline except brief iPhone visits.
And not one, but two of our credit cards were ganked.
On the plus side, I can probably start a side business selling Percoset now.
Oh my. I hope this weekend goes more smoothly.
Thanks for the job~ma - keep it coming, the market is in a terrible shape.
Also lots of ~ma to your BiL, omnis.
Sister came home, and let me see the pics through her FB account. I'm quite happy about them, though I mostly hate being photographed. I can now also see that I could wear the skirt a bit higher. The colors in the last one are the real colors of what I wore, which also goes for how pasty and pale my skin looks like, even after a never-ending summer in Israel (it's still above 32 Celsius here, people. In fucking October).
I'm also amused by the last picture's album, "pretty chicks at ICon 2010". The other woman in it is my talented friend I., a criminologist who is finishing her PhD dissertation in these days, about violence in dating. We were discussing the social sciences, academia and "what can I do with a degree in sociology, again?" dilemma.
ETA: easier weeks on you~ma, Raq.
including dealing with the H.R. Giger-esque drain they put in me
Glargh. I remember that from my lumpectomy. I almost fainted when I saw the doc's handiwork. Sorry to hear about the harsh week.
