I get home from work at 8:30. I eat some jumbalaya. And between being a bit tired, and I'm guessing carb coma, pass OUT in fluffy the chair while watching the Yankees game. I remember the Yanks being up 2 to 1. I wake up in the 8th and the Yanks are down 10-3. What the hell. Not only did I sleep through a lot of loud commercials, but... what the hell.

Now it's midnight, and I get the feeling sleep will be elusive. :: sigh ::

I'm having one of those times I regret hiring someone I know... It's never easy for me to enforce deadlines but it's harder with a friend than not. I'm paying her because she did the work but she turned it in late...despite "having time" to go out to festivals both weekends that passed before the deadline. I really need to learn Illustrator and Photoshop myself so that I don't have problems like this anymore.

Well, here's a nice counter-balance. My brother just thanked me for a lot of work I did on his behalf more than a decade ago. He's never before thanked me for it.

Yeah, I was tired around midnight but having the laptop near me is definitely a deterrent to sleep. I'm turning it off now. Really.

I am perplexed, and a little flustrated, though not nearly as much.

I seem to be hitting 3-4 hours of sleep on 20 mgs and POW. Awake. I am usually a person who needs at least 8 hours.

And I've been active, and eating healthy, and writing and such!

I finally looked at the bottle last night, and I see that the manufacturer is a new one to me. Drat. I always get my Ambien at Target, cause Walgreen and CVS manufacturer's Ambien is not efficacious to me, or mys sister. I know I've talked about this before.

Interesting. I am doing some research on sleep, and discovered Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder, which I had not previously encountered, and it is shockingly specific to my difficulties and patterns from adolescence on.

VERY interesting, and I am going to bring it up with my therapist, when I can afford to see her again, and am going to try and implement as many as the therapeutic suggestions as possible in the meantime.

I've been away lately because "shenanigans" happening with so called liberal, enlightened "left"(overs) in my country. [link] The last story is beyond disgrace. I'll quote myself in an email I sent to Hollaback group:

...after several cases of harassment and rape attempts of women during demonstrations went unreported and silenced, so that the "fight for peace won't get hurt". This "storm" brought the "feminist cat" out of the bag, so to speak, and showed why it's so important to have a strong feminist movement is Israel, with a clear, strong agenda of women's - all women's - rights in the holy land, unrelated to their religion or their ethnic origin. It's a struggle just to clarify why it's important in the first place, even within the "natural" habitat for women's rights, the liberal left. It's even more of a struggle for us, the Israeli Hollabackers, to explain ourselves why we should write about cases on which we were harassed by Palestinians. Even with the anti-racist policy and the veil of ignorance that Hollaback rightly demands and uses, non of us originally thought that we should write about such cases - yes, even when the readers don't know the identity of the harasser. Between the political reality and the specific nature of street harassment in Israel, we're writing a special article for the site that will cover these very delicate points.

I'm shocked and saddened to see how many liberal leftists, both men and women, are so eager to ditch the safety of women in both Israeli and Palestine societies, and act as if having peace will solve everything de facto. How many are willing to sacrifice the safety of my sisters and me, and order us "not to make a big deal about few stories", or to "let it be solved within the community", while they'll be out shouting if another "closed" community won't bring this out to the press and the courts. I can't even bear reading the comments anymore, in blogs I usually trust. I can't believe we're in a situation where it's almost impossible to be both "liberal-leftist" and a feminist.

That was my evening last night. Ryan woke up in distress about an hour after he went to bed. When I picked him up he started vomiting solidly for about five minutes. Finally we get him cleaned up and calmed down and back into bed; an hour later, he woke up and did it all again. The final session just saw him crying and dry retching.

He's better tonight so far (fingers crossed).
