Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

I just bought my own new computer speakers.(This, in itself, is cool...I've been fiending for video clips.) Even cooler, though is that I stuck up for myself against some pretty heavy sales tactics. Best quote "Please don't upsell me anymore...it's annoying."The "I will take my Treasury-guaranteed ducats and walk Away" was implied. You might not know how much crappy service I said nothing about and even tipped for, but I do, and this is major.

Hee, Raq.

And Jars, I think I might still have contacts in Burma if your friend gets into trouble. They're churchy contacts, but still, someone you can call that's in the country is a good someone to know when you're that far out.

Good for you, erika! I hate sales pressure, but good for you getting what you need.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

From the "Shit My Kid Said to Her Class While I was Sitting There and Then Wanted to Crawl Under Something and Die" file:

Mrs. P: Class, can you think of words that ends in -ap?"
Class: Nap! Slap! Cap! Lap! Crap!
Emeline: Jap!

Sigh.

Me too. Also, I hate buying computer stuff because it is so hard to know what I want/need. I feel a little bad that I made him pick my speakers and then was not able to make the impulse purchase, but my printer's not even two yet...that's nothing to feel guilty about. I used the broken-record on him... It really does work!

Oh oh dear. Aimee, one more reason to not be working in your OWN child's class...

Her teachers took the blame - they told the kids to go through the alphabet to find words and that was the first letter she hit that wasn't already on the board.

But still.

Hahaha, Aimee. Did she have any idea what she was saying? Had she heard it on Mad Men or something?

Trust my rage

See, I would guess that Em was just making up a word, going through the alphabet. I can't imagine she's ever heard anyone actually using the word.

but yes, as a parent, still embarassing

She had no clue. We don't have cable and I can't think of anything else she might have heard it on. The teachers said, "Technically, that is a word in the -ap family, but it's a nickname for Japanese and it's not a nice nickname and might make some friends uncomfortable, so we aren't going to use that one."

Em took it fine, which I was worried about cause she *HATES* being told she's wrong.

I worry about the one kid whose two words were "slap" and "Strap".
