'Sleeper'

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

erika, I hope you have a good evening with little or no family drama. Are they taking you out? Don't forget to order something pricy.

Heh. Totally.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

To make your evening more fun, erika, may I suggest these strategies:

a.feel like talking
Have a few questions ready to get things rolling. It's a conversation, so it can't all be on them--also if you already know they suck at it, come prepared to make up the slack, if only to ensure you aren't bored.

b. But not about ways in which I suck, or things like how upset I must be that my cousins got all wed-and-bred ahead of me.
You can't control the stupid stuff they say, but you can prep by having either a mild "Okay, but why don't we talk about X" or by enthusiastically agreeing with everything she says as if she is a genius. We use this on my MiL, who LOVES to criticize.
Bonus points if my brother can keep his fledgling gimp humor under wraps for the occasion.(It's totally awkward for me and I'm not sure if it's because he'll probably get better or because I don't feel like he's earned it yet.)

Not sure you can do anything about this--one of my brothers only knows how to make awkward/ill-timed jokes. I just learned to give him points for trying, while feeling sorry for him that he can't ACTUALLY be funny.

Always Anti-fascist!

Yeah...we're going to have Italian food in my neighborhood. Not a fancy place, but I usually get dessert.(And, generally, the sympathy of the waitstaff.)

Cereal: True, Scrappy. And, you know, if joking helps him cope with his condition, I get that. He just wants to do it more than I want to respond to it. There's a lot of Michael Scott in my brother.

Happy Book Day, Amy!

Erin! I was talking to the Infamous BlueJay last night (telling her about loaning you the light-reflective cincher of shock and awe), and she wanted to know when you needed stuff by, and what your measurements are. Apparently when you say "Over the top event!" to her, she starts plotting.

Jilli, did you get my e-mails regarding the corset information, including the link to the corset style?

I did! I just haven't had a chance to reply yet. Let me go do budget math, and I'll reply. t insert smiley emoticon here, even tho' we don't do such things around here

Oh, and I may be hiding out in here for a bit. There is some HUGE drama going down between a friend of mine and another friend that I used to be really close to, but have since drifted apart from. It's turning really, really ugly, and I am trying to avoid being caught in the middle.

No worries. Take your time. I just get paranoid about e-mails every once in a while. Sorry about the friend drama.

I went shopping for boots today. No luck at all. I don't know why I expect this to be different every year.
