Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I love their names so very much.
What cracks me up about our cat-naming habits is that *I* am not the one who picked the Dracula -related names. Pete was the one who named Tzepesh, and is also the one who picked Vlad. I picked appropriate vampire-themed names for Ruthven and Erzabet, but only after Pete had chosen the other names.
And he says he's not a Goth.
Aaaaand Trin just hissed at Ruthven when he tried to sniff her in solidarity. Poor cranky old girlkitty.
Oh, poor Trin.
And he says he's not a Goth.
Aw, bless his misguided black heart.
Pete's not a what???
Jilli, did you know that I used to be a Goth? I'm not sure I've ever copped to my fake Gothness. But I do remember seeing the first iteration of my web site (back when people actually *did* personal web sites) on a list of Goth sites. And there was Goth clubbing in Detroit.
But I never worked out how to be black and be a Goth, and also I am too random to be anything.
Jilli, did you know that I used to be a Goth?
Bweeeee! No, you never told me! Are there pictures?
But I never worked out how to be black and be a Goth
I have a whole post on GCS about such a thing, and had many people carefully beta-read for me, because I did not want to do any well-intentioned white lady RaceFail.
Are there pictures?
Not a single one! But I have a suspicion that I posted on Goth newsgroups, with that very question--how do melanin and Gothery work together? I still don't think I could do it justice, so it's just dark vampy clothing on me.
Update. I am home, roommate is home. I don't know if she's read my email, but she hasn't answered. I'm out of the kitchen, I think.
Dear lord, so tired. One of my favorite bands is playing tomorrow, and I don't think I'm going to be able to go.
I still don't think I could do it justice, so it's just dark vampy clothing on me.
Hmmph. I am certain you could do it justice. Man, I would love to get you all gothed up and go dancing with you. That would be so much fun.
But I suspect that your reasons are similar to the ones Pete has about how he's not a Goth. He says he's not into the music and the lifestyle as much as someone who is a Goth should be. Which means he's secretly an elitist Gother-Than-Thou type, which makes me giggle.

Aw, you don't have to make that call right now! A lot can happen between now and then. Also, who's playing and where?
Blech. I still feel all blah. It's just a cold, but my throat is killing me and I'm having some trouble breathing, and I don't have a fever but feel kind of feverish.
Hil, I hope you feel better soon.
