Oh boy. Wallybee's parents arrived safely in Shanghai, and walked straight into DRAMA. We're talking soap opera levels of drama here. I kid you not.
They stayed the night with her dad's sister. She's a lovely woman, loves kids. We have never bought Ryan a jumper, because his great-aunt keeps knitting them for him and sending them over. Never even met him. They're excellent quality too. (Apparently there are two more ready to go.) Actually, wait up, here's an example: [link]
She and her husband have a son, who studied engineering in Germany. Once he got back to Shanghai, he met someone and got engaged. They were married earlier this year. So far so good; but about a month ago, he gave his parents the shocking revelations. While he was in Germany, he'd met another overseas student, and they were living together. Since then, she's also moved back to Shanghai. He's still been seeing her all this time. He travels sometimes for work; he's been telling his wife, say, that he gets back on Saturday; but he gets back on Friday and spends the night with this other woman. He's been giving her money (including money his parents gave him).
He 'fessed up to his parents about a month ago. Why give them his confessions? Because he's gone the full Usher, that's why. She's pregnant, and due this month. Apparently she'd told him she'd had a medical issue, and couldn't get pregnant. (Naturally, any 'lost in translation' cracks about her being inconceivable, or possibly unbearable, would simply be beneath me.) Turns out, not so much. She didn't tell him until she was six months along. He told his parents start of August.
He waited another month before telling his wife.
She's kicked him out, of course, and changed the locks. Up to now the story's just a matter for gobsmackery. But his parents are devastated (and humiliated), and it didn't help when his pregnant... I suppose she's a mistress. When his pregnant mistress turned up at his parents' place for some kind of confrontation. Wallybee's aunt suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised. She's back home now.
In conclusion, drama.
