not your mom's socks.

I am mainlining the Tudors. I need to sleep tonight, after terrible dreams and 3 hours sleep last night. And yet, I am mainlining the Tudors.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ooh, no, Blue Hills isn't rich enough. Rich and black nearby would be perfect.

You know, you can make up a neighborhood. Some writers invent whole cities. Especially if you have a real neighborhood for the main setting, you can have the Jamaican neighborhood be invented. Is there a Jamaican equivalent of "Erewhon""

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Supernatural doesn't go well with making up places. Location is a character in their story.

I'll probably go with a real rich black neighbourhood and forgo the Jamaican community and have them go to a specific family.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Too impatient to wait for postal delivery, I went to Target and bought a bathing suit on clearance. It was the only one-piece they had left. Now I'm looking at it and I think it's gonna be too small, and I don't have the courage to try it on!

I joined a new gym. This one has swimming pools (warm water pool, lap pool, and "activity" pool) and they give lessons. I imagine I'll learn to swim. But even if I don't, they have a jacuzzi and a sauna and steam rooms! They also have an indoor walking/jogging track, a little cafe, a yoga studio with a floating bamboo floor (!), and wifi. I saw old folks and fat folks and no grunting exercise junkies. Now let's see if the brilliance of the place gets me to actually go there.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Have fun, Zen! One of the reasons I won't join the gym on campus is because of all the fit young 18-22 year olds running around in it. If I could find me gym with just over-50s and fat, I'd join in a heartbeat.

OTOH, my mandatory fitness regime of walking to work from parking my car a mile away because I can no longer afford to pay for campus parking started yesterday. I expect to get in fairly decent shape pretty quickly. I know I'm sleeping better for it!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Because I'm a Health Science student, I get a membership to the YMCA on the Health Science Campus, right next to the hospital. You get some students, but there's lots of diversity, which is less true of the gym on campus, even though those facilities are physically nicer.

brillig

My Gold's Gym has a good-sized population of young, tanned gym rats, but there are also people my age and condition, and in the middle of the day, Hubby is nearly the youngest one there. Afternoon on Saturday's is good too, after all the "OMG, I'm married with small children but I must look the way I did in college!" crowd is done with their classes.

Stupid conservative town, though, that won't let the place be open on Sundays.
