Oh man, I am sooooo jealous! It may be insane but if you can work the schedule, you will have a wonderful trip. The train from Leeds to Edinburgh was about 3 hours (and Leeds to London is about the same), just enough time to watch the countryside go by, and do some reading/napping. We did Stonehenge and Bath in a day, in the pouring rain and it wasn't too bad, we didn't feel rushed. We had the kids with us too, I think they were 6 and 10 then, so that's do-able.
I give you credit for being able to deal with a child on no sleep
Eh, he's 15 so really it was just making breakfast, gathering his lunch stuff and making sure he got out of bed. I only had to be about 30% coherent.

You get more points for a teenager in my book.
Oh considering that he's part of the reason I couldn't sleep, he's lucky to be alive right now. He procrastinated his summer homework until the last couple of days and he and I got into it when I made him go to bed and the last essay wasn't finished. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't take away privileges earlier so he would have gotten it all finished. The saving grace is that they probably won't have to turn anything in today because they are having a day-long assembly, he's very lucky, I tell you what!
OK, who here started this trend? it's so us!
Ooooooh, man, I wanna go to England. I've only ever been for a few hours in London one day, on a long layover on my way to Cape Town. It was a lovely day (our very own Fay met up with me and showed me around!), but it was just a tease. I want to spend days walking around London and going to tons of museums, I want to take a train up to Bronte Country and visit Stonehenge and the Lake District and Stratford-upon-Avon and Cornwall and Manchester and hundreds of other places.
sj, I hope you and TCG have a fantastic trip!
I have to wait until I get my masters (all extra money is being sucked up with tuition!), but I am definitely going to London as my graduation-gift-to-myself sometime in early 2014.
Kate! I had a dream last night we were walking around NY together.
...IT'S A SIGN.
Or, you know, given that I usually dream things like the disembodied, floating head of Brad Dourif is chasing me around the backyard of my childhood home, maybe not.
Now everyone at the bar thinks I'm insane because I just spat beer all over my iPhone. Well played.
