I do not like the sound of this surgery but it may not be optional once we move down the path to healing.

A cat from my childhood, Beau, had a version of that (though it wasn't as sophisticated 40+ years ago, plumbing rerouted out near his belly. He leaked a little) and he lived to a ripe old 17.
