Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I go back and forth on the use of the term, myself. And indeed, sometimes it depends on who I am talking to and their level of sensitivity, which I know is a bad way to do it!!

At the risk of ... I don't know, something...why is that a bad way to do it? By which I mean there are all sorts of reasons to edit oneself depending upon whom one is having a conversation with. If you know that there is a certain level of sensitivity, then you make adjustments in your personal vernacular. For instance, Mauva (my former boss and current friend who is from Jamacia) and I had a certain type of relationship where I could say some things to her that I would never say to ita; I don't have that "relaxed" a relationship with ita. And also ita can kick my ass, which is not a small factor.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Hell yes on "tramp stamp" and "wife beater," by which I mean of course hell no. Casual misogyny has a cumulative effect. And worth noting that both terms have class associations, as well.

Heh. Some of my friends call it a "butch cami",

OMG so using that. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Yay, Drew!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

"Tramp stamp" has always bugged me. Because that location IS an ideal spot for women to get tattoos, and the casual misogyny of the term is ugly.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Jilli, I sent you an email but to several addys. It is a boot related matter.

I used to hear 'bullseye' before tramp stamp became the popular term. Still do occasionally. I'm not sure which is worse.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh it's very much a comment on the people who drink it. It has a slightly higher alcohol content than other standard lagers, and everyone knows drunk people beat their wives? Or something? The company is always trying to look as classy as possible in their ads to counter that image. I think it might be working...

It's worked pretty well over here. They definitely market as an upscale.

I heard "target tattoo" for a long time. In fact, the first time I saw the term "tramp stamp" was in the credits for "How I Met Your Mother" when they credited a minor character as "Tramp Stamp Girl" or "Girl with the Tramp Stamp"

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Drew is no longer a series of tubes! Hooray!

YAY!

and when things started getting tense I was convinced the next several hours would be about recriminations and escalation

Our systems tend to work. Which is good.

It IS ideal. But I dithered a lot before I put my spiral there because of the casual misogyny. I think if it had been a more horizontal image, I wouldn't have at all.

I will point out that it's a fabulous place to have a not-seen-by-anybody-if-you-don't-want tattoo until you fall asleep on your stomach in the stands at the racetrack and jeans inch down. Then your dad finds out.

Our wings are not tired.

Skimming past so many posts.

Happy Birthday to Nora!

I have only heard 'tramp stamp' and 'wife beater' here. I think people might be cautious of their word usage around me because they know I will jump all over them. Butch cami is cute and I shall add it to my vocab.

So happy to read that Drew is back to the old fashioned way of consuming food. Yay for going tubeless!
