The kids were never able to get on the flights, Maria. They're at home, safe and sound, thank goodness. Basically what happened was when the tickets were initially issued, the travel agent screwed up the spelling of our surname. When she emailed us the itineraries, I noticed and obviously, called up and politely asked them to fix it. So they voided the initial tickets and rebooked them, with the correct spelling, but it would appear that they only ran the credit card for ONE ticket, leaving one unpaid. When we got to the airport tonight, they went to check them in, went "whoospie, one of these isn't paid for," although the reservation was still in the system and because it had been booked through a travel agent, with the return coming back on a different airline, it wasn't as if USAir could honor the price or even cancel the reservation and let us pay for a one way ticket (which would have been nearly three times the cost for the original round trip ticket).

Basically, it's just a clusterfuck of ineptitude, caused by simple carelessness. What really pisses me off is that I wasn't able to book these tickets online, because the kids are underage. If I had, they'd be on a flight right now. Bah.

Yes, something along these lines would go quite a ways towards soothing the savage beast. They didn't even have an emergency number-- I'm actually feeling quite angry at myself, to tell you the truth. I thought I was doing something good, helping to support a local, neighborhood business, but if this is the result, well... not gonna happen again, lemme tell you.

I did, in fact, curse myself with my post last night about sleeping well. I slept like crap last night. I can't help wondering if it was because I got 3 good nights' sleep in a row.

But, I figure if I'm tired enough today, I'll sleep well tonight. (I'd BETTER sleep well tonight.)

I think we need to get a memory-foam topper or something for the bed, because sometimes I have a terrible time getting comfortable, and that makes it hard to sleep. Hell, it might just be time for a new mattress. I can't remember how old Tim's mattress is.

Apparently, the travel agency is mystified... mystified, I tell you, that we want them to fix this little issue.
