'Why We Fight'

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Maybe, Windsparrow, but in this case, I think he doesn't see the connection.

Yeah. Not smart with the thinking is. "Where's the money going to come from to pay for all those tests?" From the existing social services budgets, of course.

Well, loud cussing I do all the time! Or at least under my breath. And I try to avoid the meltdowns, as they are usually caused by being HANGRY. Maybe once a month? But I tend not to slam doors. I think some of it depends, too--are you scaring other people by slamming doors? Are you acting like you might take it out on them? Are you cussing at someone to their face?

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's less than once a month.

I think some of it depends, too--are you scaring other people by slamming doors?

Maybe

Are you acting like you might take it out on them?

no

Are you cussing at someone to their face?

no

I think I am hypersensitive because a former member of this household used to do things like put a fist through a wall.

I'm pretty sure this is normal and I am continuing to do the right thing by ignoring it when it happens.

I'm confused. Are you doing this, or is a housemate?

In any case, I would have a hard time living with someone who had a "meltdown" such as you described (slamming doors, swearing, etc.) every month (or more often), unless there were extenuating circumstances (serious ongoing stress, etc.).

But everyone has different tolerance levels; if it's no big deal to you, then no worries.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Honestly, I know it depends on the person (and sometimes family or culture plays in), but that’s not normal in my world. I don’t do screaming and door slamming (except in extremely rare situations where something has gone completely off the rails) and cannot be around it without serious emotional distress. I have some triggers from an emotionally abusive ex, so I may not be the norm for this.

It's my sister's bf. And it's been months since the last time. He slammed the closet door, then the front door, then his car door, screaming "fuck!" the whole time. I have no idea what brought this on. Previous meltdowns were not as prolonged and rarely closer than a couple months apart. My sister has never said that it bugs her and compared to her husband this is nothing.

And compared to the swearing that happens when D&F play Call of Duty for four hours it was quite tame.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Nora, I've avoided contacting AT&T because, well, I'm still getting a discount for the university I no longer work for. But I think I'm going to have to do a tech chat, because FUCK THIS. It took me over ten minutes to complete a call to bonny.

Ohhh I think I know what happened. We are lizard sitting and I see one of the tanks does not have a lamp. If I broke a bulb that would make me want to cuss and slam things. (I wouldn't, but I understand the urge)

Actually, your description above (slamming closet door, slamming front door, slamming car door, *screaming* "Fuck" the whole time) does not seem like a proportionate response to breaking a light bulb.

But, again, if you (or your sister, or both, whoever it is who lives with this dude) don't have a problem with that kind of behavior, then it's not really an issue.
