Oh no to the no water!
I decree my pink eyed peas served over shitake mushroom grits to be delicious. Now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of the haul tomorrow...
I've also been blogging like a fool! Blogging about vacation, beer and vacation beer!
Okra should be tossed in a mixture of cornmeal, flour, S&P (also maybe some cayenne) and fried in bacon fat. This also works for green tomatoes.
I hated okra when I was a kid, but now I like it as long as it's cooked right. Fried like Vortex says is yummy, and Iraqis make a wonderful stewed dish with okras and tomatoes.
I also like it stewed with corn, canned whole tomatoes, and a ham hock. Add lima beans, and it's succotash, but my family doesn't like them, so we leave them out. The hock, however, is sacred.
Mmm Vortex, I'll have to try that.
We seem to have water again. Right now it is running on the brownish side. So, my best guess is a construction worker hit a pipe.
I'm glad you got water back, sj.
I'm way too lazy to bread and fry okra. I do think it makes a splendid addition to chicken and veggie soup - the slime component ends up as thickening rather than slime.
Miss Annabelle hasn't showed her cute little face since yesterday afternoon. The food I left out for her is gone but there is no way to know if it went into her tummy, or into some other tummy. This may become a saga of how a stray gets brought into the family, or it may be that she just needed a good meal or two and some friendly petting, so she can be on her way.
A series of inappropriate questions to ask a trans person. Oh, yeah.
That just makes my heart hurt. Jesus.
ION -- can I get an opinion? The cat Toke threw up her breakfast yesterday (definitely NOT a hairball), and has been throwing up water intermittently since then. We didn't give her dinner last night (but she did have access to water at all times). This morning we gave her rice with a little canned food mixed in (we didn't have chicken), and she shunned it.
She's more or less behaving the same -- not notably lethargic (it's hard to tell with her, since she's a catloaf all the time), but she's warmer than normal.
ER vet? Or wait until tomorrow and call the regular vet? I'm just really worried about her getting dehydrated since apparently she keeps throwing up water. We have central air, so the heat isn't an additional factor, which is on the good side. But -- I just don't want her to get dehydrated.
We think we're going to take her to the ER vet, or the vet center at PetSmart. Overreaction, or good idea?
Continuing to throw up water could be a blockage, so probably a good idea.

That's what happened with Jeeves a few weeks back. It turned out to be blockage due to epic constipation. I do recommend getting her to the vet.
