So, you know, don't tell me anything bad. It's too late. I'll just suffer.

erin, tons of ~ma to your sister. I hope your dad's plan doesn't blow up in his face too badly.
I was pulling into the driveway a minute ago and saw my upstairs neighbor being dropped off by a police car. She didn't look upset and she did have a grocery bag with her. So maybe he was just being nice and driving her home from the market (she doesn't own a car), but I automatically assume the worst with upstairs neighbors.
Good luck Trudy!
Sounds like he's using the rationale of excising her for "her own good/consequences/blah blah blah" as an excuse so that he no longer has to deal with the shit.
this is very much how i'm seeing it, unfortunately. I love my Dad dearly, but i have also heard him complaining for years about her mom "using" him for "free child care." He has this emotional state of not having wanted another child, so not feeling any internal compunction to take care of her beyond financially...and even that has been a frequent issue of contention between the parents. He doesn't like having a 15 year old in his house, and she doesn't like spending time at his house because she has no friends nearby and it's boooooring for her. Especially now that her internet priviledges are severely limited.
I think i might have talked him into reconsidering. Seems like he's just giving up on her...a process that started years ago when he started openly questioning her biological parentage. (A valid concern, she was born a year to the day after he had his first attack--brought on by his wife's infidelity--followed by open heart surgery. Many people question whether he actually fathered a child a couple months out of the ICU...) But since her birth he's been her father and never asked for genetic testing, so IMHO he needs to step up and continue trying to HELP her, no matter how hard and painful it is. Easy for me to say, happily childless and on the other side of the country.
sj- cops frequently will do a "courtesy transport" after breaking up a disturbance, in order to separate the parties. My assumption would be that she got in a row with someone, they responded to break it up, and then gave her a ride home to get her away from the scene. Cops generally don't just give pedestrians rides home.
I hope things calm down, erin.

Okay, I guess I can see other people speculating, but um, wouldn't he be in a position to have a pretty good sense of how possible it is? A heart attack may make sex inadvisable but I'm not sure I see how it affects fertility.
Yay Trudy! ~ma for permanent job improvement

I never asked specifics cuz, ya know, my DAD, but my understanding is that he has every reason to expect her to be his biological daughter. His wife really wanted a child, and that desire increased dramatically after he almost died (repeatedly)...his concern is that she may also still have been sleeping with another man. Who killed himself a few years later. It's all so very soap-opera-ey.
Heh. I figured it was something like that. It just took me aback the tying of his questioning to the heart attack.
All joking aside, I do hope they can resolve this in a way that doesn't leave her unmoored.

Yeah, that is probably more likely. Sigh. There's probably no way to find out for sure though, right?
So, has anyone ever wondered what a fibroid looks like? Well, they took a picture of what they removed yesterday. As a point of reference, the surgeon is holding the basin in both hands. [link]
NOT for the faint of heart.
