Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

As I was catching up, there was some talk about roto-rootering sinuses.

I can totally relate to this. One time when I was doing the Uncle Buck thing out in California for my brother I contracted a nasty sinus infection. I mean nasty, so nasty it was getting into my shoulders.

The only thing they found to deal with it was Rifampin, a tuberculosis medication.

The wonderful side effect of this, however, is that it took care of *everything* that was keeping me from breathing through my nose.

I swear it was like someone had indeed taken a roto-rooter to my nose.

Bliss, until it wore off.

Hey, that's what I'm on for my collection of medical problems!

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

{{{{Trudy and Dallas}}}}

In medically convenient news, my troubled 15 yo sis who was slated for a summer of outward bound intervention program canoeing in Minnesota came down with Mono. So now she's spending the summer sitting on the sofa watching Buffy (glad i sent her the full series!) and whingeing about not being able to use the computer without an adult in the room with her. And now her Mom is peeved that she doesn't want to work at the family hardware store...i did point out that folks suffering from Mono generally do spend most of their waking time on the sofa, cranky teenager or not.

And in Banging-my-head-on-the-desk news , i seem to have signed myself up for another try at police dispatch training. the training program that broke me last year. the training program that left me crying myself to sleep for countless nights and still has me doubting and second guessing my abilities. But dangit, i don't want to be the gal that failed...and certainly not the gal who failed twice, and i'm really doubting whether i should go through with it or just stay in the calltaker only classification (less pay, no room for advancement, the irritation of talking to citizens All The Time.) *sigh* Choices, sometimes they are hard.

But hey, i still have running water! Hot and cold! Life is good in this century ;)

And i just found out that my sister's mom had never heard of the Spoon Theory. Seriously. Even after the month of college i spent living with her and my dad during a severe FMS flare up so bad i couldn't walk up the steps to my apartment...i am SHOCKED. She has been forwarded links.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

When I had mono I also had a full-time job and very little sick leave. On weekdays, aside from the 20 minute commute, 8 hours at work, and maybe 20 minutes to shower and eat, I was asleep. I even slept through my lunch hour. On weekends I slept more. Mono just wiped me out.

Oh, and Laga, you can get cheap silicone or foam earplugs at any drugstore, usually in the same aisle as ear lavages and contact solution.

Thrive to spite them

I just had an encounter with my landlady's daughter and her (roommate's son - I think it's her roommate's son) anyway they play in the drive right by the window where I'm sitting now. The cats get up there and they are always commenting on the cats.

So I asked them over, and then put the cats in the porch, closed the door and introduced them. Maddie was patient, Dean was freaked out and tried to hide. But both the kids got to pet the cats and the cats were a little less freaked out.

Dean jumped to a high window and one of them said "Super Kitty! From outer space it's SUPER KITTY"
