[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Last night shit for anyone else? I had a migraine and was sure I'd be forced to leave my air conditioned bedroom to vomit for an hour if I took anything stronger than the tylenol I got in when it first started. The friend staying with me kept having nightmares (good think I was awake with the migraine to wake her up!). Dallas was pacing quite a bit... Something with the moon? And would the moon affect the dog?

The official medical word on Dallas is that her kidneys are failing and there's nothing more to do. My vet (who is an angel) and I have discussed what we need to discuss. Saturday was an ok day, Sunday bad, yesterday really good, last night got bad again... Even the bad days aren't particularly painful, more along the lines of addled. Today is probably too hot to carry her over to the park and play a while.

My schedule this week went from a three day shore trip and four days of Bouncing Souls in Philly to two day trips down the shore and driving back and forth for the shows. And job hunting of course (which I have managed to do both in the ocean and at at after party. Heh.). My BiL made some sort of noise about cancelling this week's shows and just made me all confused-faced. Why would I forego the thing that makes me not cry at all for a few hours?

not your mom's socks.

Trudy, last night was pure sinus hell for me too. I can't even describe it because i don't want to relive it. I'm so sorry about Dallas' kidneys. If there's a chance you'll still come to Philly, yell.

Thanks, Sox. Next time I stay over I'll get in touch -- it seems to happen once a year or so. Maybe there was something wicked in the air last night.

The shows have been rowdy and very good for me. The band is doing four night stands of album shows -- night one is the first two albums, night two the second, etc. The singer who is usually more like this [link] (even when not playing acousticly and screwing up the chorus) was like this [link] the other night... which was just about completely fucking epic. In this version he passes right over the camera and you can see my friends and I sort of losing it (:45-:50) as he gets pulled back on stage by their guitar tech/keyboard player and tries to tackle the bassist [link] .

OK, now the Excedrine migraine is making me tired. First it made me really fucking awake what with the caffine, but now that the pain is abating all that sleep I didn't get last night is all, "Hey... remember me?" Maybe I'll do a short nap and THEN my kitchen, laundry, dog... tough to say.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm sorry, Trudy, especially about Dallas. I hope the week improves.

Thanks, billytea. She's dropped off now so maybe I will grab that nap. With any luck we'll both wake up in a few hours peppy.

Well then. I wish you both pep. (Of course, here in Australia we spell it backwards.)

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Aw, Trudes. Sorry you're having a rough time of it, and very sorry to hear about Dallas. Glad you've got the BS shows for catharsis.

Good times at the de facto dog park this morning, until a cop pulled up. We all put leashes back on and left, just in case he was in a ticketing mood.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Much love and comfort to Dallas, Trudy, and I'm glad you've got the shows to give you a bit of emotional respite. And napping sounds like a wise idea.

Good thoughts and ~ma to Vortex!

I should be writing, or cleaning, or organizing, but it's so very pleasant just to sit and electronically putter around in the quiet and the morning light.
