Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

"Saint Woot?" I thought. "Who the heck is Saint Woot? Oh, Frenchman Street, duh."

I did the same thing. Except I don't know what's so great about Frenchman Street.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Awesome live music. You just wander down the street, wait till you hear something intriguing, and walk in. There are, oh, at least 10 music clubs on that street, and most don't charge cover, they just have a one drink minimum. More mature crowd than Bourbon St. And there are cheaper restaurants than the French Quarter.

d.b.a, Snug Harbor, Apple Barrell, Spotted Cat, Balcony Music Club, Maison, Checkpoint Charlie's, and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head. Everything from big names to local bands.

I consider that my "hood" in New Orleans. My favorite B&B is near there, and I spent a lot of time there. Also, do not sleep on the fried okra at the Praline Connection. ON POINT.

Dude, the tater tachos at Thirteen are inspired. I have yet to go to Praline Connection. That was one of my top neighborhoods to move to, but the IC has Nora and K and K.

Hm, have not had the tater tachos. Clearly, I need to go down to NO and we need to take each other places.

The status is NOT quo.

Whee! Your new neighborhood sounds so fun, smonster!

Vortex...I just...I don't even. I'm sorry she's so difficult.

So, today I have done the following: phone interviewed a prospective English intern (she'll teach one class and do a lot of subbing), bought basic groceries, rented a Rug Doctor, vacuumed and steam cleaned all the disgusting carpets in the house (ND even moved the bed so I could vacuum and steam clean under it, which definitely hasn't happened...well, ever), emptied and refilled litter boxes, cleaned off window sills that haven't been cleaned in five years, and am now airing out the whole house. Kitties are shut in the bedroom because we don't have screens on any of the windows in the front part of the house (they're those ancient pull-string ones that will take a fortune to fix, so we thought they were sealed...just found out that they were painted shut but do open if we prop them up with something--DOH!). For the first time since we moved in, I've propped them all open and have box fans and the ceiling fan going to refresh the air, which had gotten very stale, central AC or not.

I haven't started the Epic Closet Cleaning Project yet since it is going to be massive, but I think I'll tackle it in the morning.

I declare myself Productive and am now going to defrost a TV dinner because I don't think I can handle cooking.

ETA: AND!! I even got my tetanus/pertussis vaccination and a physical today, which I've been putting off forever.

You go, Kristin!

Clearly, I need to go down to NO and we need to take each other places.

Well, CLEARLY.

Wow, Pix, crazy motivated!!

I just got home from a road trip where many things seemed to go wrong, but I was worried I'd miss my flight due to LA traffic, and didn't. So that was at least good. I have a lot to catch up on tomorrow though--since I forgot my computer cord, I was frantically online racing to send an email here and there before the computer died. I'd be busy with two days gone and a trip next week anyway, but with barely knowing what's been going on? Yeha.

Saint Woot?" I thought. "Who the heck is Saint Woot? Oh, Frenchman Street, duh."

Hah! I read it that way too. And am jealous of smonsters adventures in New Orleans...but I'm looking forward to being there for nearly a week around Labor Day!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Oh, and if it's dinged or broken, he's going to fix it.

I know this one! "I can USE it in something! I swear!"

ION, I will be impressed if I make it out of vacation alive. First there was (1) the wildfire (which is ongoing -- more than 40 square miles are burning, and it's about 70% contained), which has created lousy air quality, which I suspect may have contributed to (2) the cold. The sore throat is mostly gone, but now I have a cough and a tight chest. Earlier this week was the (3) holy-shit-I-might-go-to-Urgent-Care painful back, which has subsided. And today I have (4) a serious sunburn on my back. ONLY my back. (Guess who put sunscreen on my back? And did a CRAP job of it? Hint: MY BOYFRIEND.)

I assume that tomorrow will involve an airplane falling out of the sky onto me, or possibly spontaneous combustion. Sheesh.

It's not a *bad* vacation, but I really can't wait to be home in our little house where it's just the 2 of us in our quiet routine and sleeping in our own bed.

We have gotten in some righteous games of Zombies, though, along with nighttime kite flying and fun in the surf. I finished one book (Crocodile on the Sanbank, thank you Jilli for the rec) and started another (South of Broad, the newest Pat Conroy at his florid best), and caught up on a lot of my comic books (Red Robin and Superboy continue to be my OTP).

But I'm ready to be home.
